At one point Lost was my second favorite show. IMO, The first season was almost flawless... then, (car screeching) (large crash-type sound) (video footage put on ogrish.com) ! I remember watching it being creeped out as to who the Others truly were. Now, it's a joke. Didn't the main creator leave during the first season? Isn't this when ABC got to hire writers to complete the series?
Well, to each their own, but I think the acting in 24 is on par with Lost. The acting in Heroes is the main reason I can't get into it as much as the other two. Next thing, you'll tell me that the douchebag playing Lincoln Burroughs on Prison Break should win an Emmy. BTW, I like that show too. I also think that after this week's episode, 24 is back on track. I liked the development at the end of the episode. A new twist on what is typically an old 24 standby.
I absolutely HATE the guy who plays Lincoln! I really like Prison Break, better than 24 at this point, but not because of that idiot. I'm really hoping 24 gets back on track. I thought last season started off kind of eh but ended up really good. I'm not giving up yet!
Also, it very well may not be the acting but the writing in 24. The actors only have so much to work with. It's kind of like Star Wars. The movie is great, the actors are good, but the dialog is horrible. If I have to see Chloe make that stupid look and say "fine" one more time I'm going to shoot my tv.
GUYS, Master Baiter in particular. This is NOT a 24 thread. You're spoiler button is ONLY for Lost stuff, unless you write THIS IS A 24 SPOILER...24 WATCHERS DO NOT CLICK THIS SPOLER BUTTON. I come in here to gets peoples take on Lost and click the spoiler buttons...then out of nowhere there is the biggest 24 spoiler possible hidden under one of the buttons. thx geeze dude.... damn!
Couldn't disagree more. 24 S6 is stuffed with horrificly shallow, one-dimensional acting. Tom Lennox and Sandra Palmer are providing some of the worst acting on television since She-Spys. You could almost replace all of Jack's dialogue at this point by cutting and pasting from previous seasons. I don't want to do this - Tell me what I need to know! Dammit! We know where they are, I need a full recon team over there in 5 mins! Where are the nukes?! LOST has certainly lost a step or two since season 1, but it has truly compelling characters. Eko (until he died) and Locke really pull you in. Jin, Sawyer, and Hurley have charisma. There isn't a single character on 24 that you could describe as "intriguing." Part of that is writing, part is acting. David Palmer had gravitas. The current cast could be cut outs and no one would notice. Evan
Well, Mr. Lost Thread Mod, if you had read what we were talking about you'd have known that we were discussing 24. I don't think what I wrote was that huge of a spoiler anyway but I apologize for spoiling it for you none the less.
if I were I mod, I would delete your post. umkay. nice weak apology. but that's ok, i'm not looking for an apology...i'm looking to get your attention and smack some stupid commen sense into your knucklehead. please do not mix spoilers between two threads unless you make it much more apparent that you are talking about another show ... check what macalu said right after you wrote your spoiler. I'm not the only one.
Thought it was a pretty good episode last nite, really showed the power and reach of the Hanzo foundation with the whole Bus thing the clockwork orange set up was kind of intresting but weird as I never got the feeling "the others" were "programmed", always got the feeling they were there, even if they hated it, of their own doing
lol, he posted that prior to me putting it in a spoiler button. You'd have really had a fit if you'd had read it then I fixed it for you though, hopefully you will approve. **Raises right hand*** I do solemnly swear to go forth and be more aware about posting about shows that have already aired. Also, I know it sucks to get things spoiled and while it sounded weak, I did feel a bit guilty. Sorry.
lol, you didn't put it in a spoiler at first....haha anyhoot....I think your fix will do just fine....thx
My friend and I saw the bus coming a mile away after spotting it early in the scene, followed by Arnold doing the backwards walk into the street bit. Always a great way to go. I think many of the older ones aren't brainwashed (see Julie), but it helps explain the zombie kids from last season. Evan
i knew he was gonna get hit by a bus too eventually, but the timing caught me off guard. i don't know why. i gave out an "oh ****" though.
The creators of the show said to look for an anagram-able word last night. I'm pretty sure they were referring to "Mittelos Bioscience". Mittelos = "lost time"? This particular anagram leads me to something else the creators have hinted at... Spoiler They said that the time of the plane crash will become important later on. Perhaps "lost time" has something to do with that? Maybe time moves at a different speed on the island?
Like I said, to each their own. I have a hard time even watching episodes that center around Charlie or Claire. Even Kate gets on my nerves time to time and Hurley's acted the same the entire run of the show. I don't think it's even fair to compare the two shows. The very nature of 24 makes character development pretty much impossible whereas Lost devotes half of each episode to developing a specific character. I will agree with you on Sandra Palmer and Tom Lennox. I think adding Powers Boothe and Chad Lowe will help.
Spoiler They talked about the characters. They commented on the spiritual roles these characters porttray and how we can relate to them. That the island has the power to manifest hidden emotions stemmed by character flaws. Something like that. It was actually pretty interesting.
Another link to philosophy in general: Edmund Burke (Juliet's ex) may refer to the real-life philosopher. In what capacity, I don't know. BTW, last semester, in my leadership class, I wrote a 15-page final paper on the leadership styles of Jack Shephard and John Locke (and which one is more effective). I got an A.
