I turn on the game and the first thing I see is that we've dominated in rushing and passing and are up 28-10. Right after that, we punt the ball to Detroit's 4-yard line. Then I see a 96-yard Lions TD, a pass interference and a 2pt conversion. Conclusion: I'm a jinx.
They blow the roughing the passer call then after a near safety they call a 15-yd penalty on us. F**k the refs!
I'm not sure if you guys have established a link to watch, but I found one.... Pretty good stream. http://www.ustream.tv/videoplayerpopup/channel/288213
COMPLETE BS call.... if Smith wasn't shaken up, it would have never been called. He got hurt by Greenwood dragging him down... and that started in-bounds.
I am seriously a jinx. Everything sucks since I turned on the game. Alternate explanation: This is normal Texans 4th qrtr football.
My prediction is that we go too conservative and we give the ball back to the Lions with a decent amount of time left. I know, I'm going out on a limb here.
Exactly... go back to running the slants, quick-outs, etc. They all stay in-bounds (so they'll continue to run clock), and they are high percentage plays. Frankly, we always do a great job running our scripted plays to start the game... and then we go cold (with the excption of the Jacksonville game). Maybe, if we develop some scripted plays for the 4th quarter (or in games where we're comfortably ahead, but not blowing them out), we'll do a lot better in these situations.
