There were few reason for it, one electoral college serves as a buffer against the direct appointment because people might be duped into selecting a tyrant as leader. Another (my personal opinion) that they've studied the Roman Republic alot, which lasted for about 400 years before they became an empire. They also had the electoral college, but I think their elections were every 2 years, if I remember correctly from history.

I don't live in a fantasy world were you can push poverty into prosperity by taxing the 'rich' into poverty. Wealth is created, not redistributed. Thus the reason why socialist countries like Cuba, N Korea and Venezuela fail.

When have I defended Trump? As I said, I really don't care about the wealthy one way or another. Anyone who pushes space exploration and rewards the companies who produce and punishes the ones who are behind and/or can't deliver. Anyone who prioritizes AI development across the board (and not try to pick winners/losers) Anyone who prioritizes developing and expanding all forms of energy, not just one little segment of the market. This also includes energy storage. We should be expanding our nuclear reactors at a rapid rate. Promoting any company who is trying to remove fossil fuel vehicles off the roads. We should start implementing taxes on ICE vehicles of all types in a progressive manner while EV ownership gets credits. Anyone who promotes meritocracy.
Its a right wing talking point to claim those countries are socialist. While they have more social programs than the US, they still lean more towards capitalism. Social programs are not necessarily evil however poorly managed social programs are a burden on society and often only exist to keep the party in power. China is a great example. They are a very successful country however socialism is a burden on the country overall. They have creeped out of communism and into socialism. Eventually they could become much more capitalistic. The CCP, much like the DNC, stay in power by offering freebies to the plebs. The same applies to Russia. Heavy handed socialism always fails. Only low IQ people think the US is the only place in the world where the great tech companies can reside.

The current NASA-SPACE X program was done under the Obama-Biden Crew program - which was highly innovated in partnering with commercial to offload costs to taxpayers. Trump does the opposite and wants gov't spending to fund space programs. Still, Biden embraced Trumps Artemis program. The two are pretty much aligned on future but it appears Biden will prefer more commericial partnerships. Trump will likely change to give everything with Musk - talk about picking winners and losers. On AI - they are exactly the same. On Chips - Biden created the CHIPS programs - to move it back to the US. I actually scored big here as I invested in micron but there were many others - that's what will drive most of the "AI" you are thinking of. If creating incentive is picking winners or losers, what is Trump doing here, nothing. Trump is anti-EV. I don't get why you think he is promoting those companies. Trump does not promote meritocracy.
