US President Donald Trump urged Americans to fight anti-Semitism during an ecumenical meeting in the White House's Rose Garden on Wednesday. "We will fight with all our strength and everything that we have in our bodies to defeat anti-Semitism, to end the attacks on the Jewish people and to conquer all forms of persecution, intolerance and hate," the president said Rabbi Goldstein told Trump, full of emotion, he was "as they say in yiddish, a mensch par excellence," before praising him. Yea, Trump is totally Hitler and is totally a "white nationalist" https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/inte...-to-fight-anti-semitism-with-all-our-strength
Wage earners have 2000 paid hour a year to make a living, The average working wage is $21 and hour, So, they aren't investing.
Exactly. Hey I will vote for Biden if necessary, but if we keep the Democratic Party fixated on guys and gals like him, we will keep having Dubyas and Trumps and losing House and Senate seats because the Kochs and the Republicans can spend more on 30 second TV spots and disinformation.
It's called the free market. In any market, there will be winners and losers (and those in the middle). Accepting this reality of life is part of maturity and adulthood, IMO. And, most things (yes, even human relationships) exist in a market.
See my reply to Juan Valdez. See also "Idiocracy" (the movie). This is why there are more "have nots" these days.
Agreed. Government structures exist in a market. Class warfare exists in a market. Revolutions exist in a market. Everything has a supply and a demand and a market price. There are some things I don't want to buy.
And this is our difference: you see a growing bogeyman of white nationalism; I do not. Nor do I think Trump is promoting white nationalism. (His political opponents "need" this to be the case, but it isn't.) Nor do I think that a growing awareness on the part of Anglo-Americans of their own history, culture, and interests is tantamount to being a KKK member. That's simplistic at best. You, and others, seem to think that America is about to slip off into 1930s Germany. I think that's ridiculous.
Actually not according to many I am not a pure socialist. Neither is Bernie a "pure socialist" who is often denounced by many as not really a socialist, but a social democrat. I like the term democratic socialist, but certainly identify with socialist if qualified enough. I am no fan of Russia, China, Cuba etc, but can admit their aspects that were improvements over dog eat dog capitalism. My vision is Scandinavia, but with enough nationalization, worker ownership and/or controls to keep the capitalists at bay. It will have to be considerable for the capitalists in this era with their ability to pit the workers in Bangladsh against Americans or even Mexicans.. The capitalists always want it all and are very good at using force to get it all or convincing little guys to semi-willingly give it all to to them by waiting for trickle down, or whatever. After Lenin there were two groups that wanted to misappropriate the word "socialism". The first group, , the Leninists in Russia , after seizing power from the brutal Czar dictastorship had to suppress the majority of Russians-- especially the millions of peasants on their little plots of land-- who did not support their goals. They still wanted to call themselves the good word "socialist" and certainly claimed that they were still "democrats". The second groups who wanted to misappropriate the word "socialism" were , The capitalists in the West and America who wanted to say that socialism was only the post 1917 Russian model with the secret police, Gulags etc. Fortunately for the working classes in Western Europe they still remembered the goals of socialism before the Russian Revolution so they were able to achieve the comforts of free college tuition, national healthcare, long vacations, subsidized or free child care, long parental leaves at childbirth etc. More and more Americans are rejecting this sort of false dichotomy , Gulags or free speeh and thinking we are as rich as Western Europe why can't we have good social programs, too? According to classical; Marxism you cannot have socialism in one country due to capital flight and the capitalists using the patriotism of ordinary folks to fight others. See WW I. While Marxism has it errors, they may be right on this one. Now it seems not possible to have even a steady rudimentary welfare state with the capitalists free to move jobs, factories, supply chains etc to where wages and environmental conditions are lowest. Capital i.e. machines, factories and technology and money can move across borders, but people cannot do so freely. Make it difficult for folks to flee their impoverished or war torn countries, have the immigrants be "illegal" to cut wages in their new homeland. Great for Trumpistas. Great for capitalists hoarding all the money.
Another Joe Biden atrocity come back to haunt him. Oh the bad Bernie Bros are so divisive. As shown last time, Trump is not beyond attacking the Democratic candidate from the left to depress the turnout among Democrats. There is a reason the candidates need to be vetted. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxCAnVoBCOA/?igshid=2pp0xnouzjmy …
We're you around in the South in the 50's and 60's? Because I was. I've seen white supremacy up close. Idiots in my town blew up all the school buses to stop school integration. White teens I knew abused black kids in my presence to somehow establish their superiority. Racial discrimination is such an easy comfortable boost to the collective ego. That's what makes it so dangerous. https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-spends-morning-promoting-far-right-fringe?via=twitter_page
[Masterpiece Post] I'll tell you where the socialist vision collapses. GLynch provides a window into his thinking in the above quoted post. His vision of socialist success is Scandinavia. We must accept some very difficult truths in order to understand why the Scandinavian socialism model will not work in America. 1) Immigration into Scandinavia from low income areas is geographically difficult. Up until recently, when most of Europe decided to purposefully bring in African/Middle eastern immigrants, there wasn't that much immigration into Scandinavia. Scandinavian leaders brought in these immigrants not out of a sense of compassion, but rather because their population growth was low and they needed an economic shot in the arm. That shot in the arm comes from more people participating in the economy, but also from lower wages being paid (due to the supply of labor increasing). This is the dirty truth that no one on the left will ever admit, because the liberal foot soldiers (most of you reading this) are kept in the dark and oblivious, and the Machiavellian policy makers will never reveal their true motivations. 2) Warning: Hard truth / Tough love incoming: Different people groups must be governed in different ways. Scandinavians historically are a group that pride themselves in their rugged individualism, family values, and strong work ethic. They eschew handouts as being freeloading and feel shame in receiving more than they give to society. This is a self-sufficient people -- which makes sense because they built a society in a very harsh environment and they have thrived without outside help. Bottom line: With few exceptions, they will not abuse a system that offers help to the lower levels of society. They have a sense of self-sacrifice and are happy to engage in that, because they know that their honor system is shared up and down the full spectrum of their society. This is a unique group of people. America is a melting pot of cultures. Some share this value system, but many do not. Many people groups in America are all too happy to receive handouts, and they rely on them instead of seeking to provide for themselves. These people groups will make the entitlement programs in a socialist state collapse on the weight of themselves. This is why socialism will not work in this country. You cannot have large scale immigration with a generous entitlement program provided to all. People will keep coming in and the costs will cycle out of control. The alternative is to have open borders and no entitlement program. This forces immigrants to be self sufficient and provide for themselves. I'd actually love to see open borders, but the only way to make it work is to remove Medicaid, Social Security, Food Stamps, Medicare, Unemployment, and Child Nutrition programs -- a politically untenable proposal. I have just revealed to you why socialism will not work in America. Now you know. GOOD DAY
And the 50s and the 60s were …...60 years ago? Something like that? I agree with being aware of history, but there is also such a thing as being blinded by it. This isn't the 50s and 60s America.
