I am with you here. I expected a dropoff in Tenn with the loss of Haynesworth but I certainly didn't see one last night. What cost them the game were mistakes: those two FG blunders and poor strategy from the Defensive Coordinator who had them playing zone and not blitzing Pitt late in the game. I remember wondering about how this year's Texans team would have held up under the pummeling Pitt & Tenn were handing out last night. It looked more like street fight than a football game. And Tenn absolutely shutdown the Steeler running game so I expect to see more of the same against the Texans. They have a chance to win but it won't be easy unless VY aka Formerly The Chosen One is starting. If the Texans show that they can prevail in games like the one last night, then they will be worthy of the expectations I'm seeing in the Chron & and elsewhere.
no, their interior linemen had a whale of a game; very fast and very active; they will eat pitts-myers-briesel alive. tennessee is soooooooo hard to peg; they *never* look impressive... but they sure do win a lot. still, i though the steelers played poorly last night offensively. both teams made critical mistakes.
Both these teams figure to be amongst the best in the League. Texans favored by 4 1 /2 Tossup game in my mind - Texans 31 - Jets 29 ....plenty of points given up without the corners...I think our defensive gives up some but scores a touchdown and creates plenty of turnovers...Sanchez gets rocked but throws a couple....and Matt stays healthy.I'm not sure how well we'll run the ball...so it's bombs away.
Yep and don't forget that Pitt got bit by the injury bug last night. It must be breaking Baltimore's heart right now. As much as I hate and despise them because they're Bud (Burn In Hell You b*stard!!!) Adams' team, I have to admire their team stability, coaching philosophy and their overall approach the game. Hopefully someday, Kubiak will evoke the same emotion in me as does Jeff Fisher.
Yeah, I think that....... wait, what? Can we ease up on the 'granpappy' talk? The guy is the same age as me. Texans 24 Jets 20
The Steelers actually were this way last year too. They were top 10 in rush attempts, but near the bottom of the NFL in actual rushing yards. I think the Big Ben thing is because in the first half (or 3 quarters), they commit to trying to run, fail, and end up leaving him in lots of bad situations (3rd and long, etc). In the 4th, they tend to quit running and let him loose, and the offense moves the ball much more fluidly.
Texans cornerback Robinson will start vs. Jets Less than a week after he reported and signed his one-year tender as the franchise player, cornerback Dunta Robinson will start against the New York Jets on Sunday. After watching Robinson work out all week, including with the starting defense, coach Gary Kubiak announced Friday that Robinson will start opposite Fred Bennett. "It makes me feel good that coach has confidence in me," Robinson said. "I feel great right now. I'm ready to play." To make room on the roster for Robinson, the Texans waived running back Andre Hall. Free safety Eugene Wilson, who has a sprained knee, will not play against the Jets. He'll be replaced by Nick Ferguson, who started nine games last season. Meanwhile, receiver Kevin Walter's hamstring injury has improved, but he's still going to be a game-time decision. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6613995.html
Man I can't wait. Got off from work, they scheduled me even though I said NO SUNDAYS! LOL. But I eventually got it my way. WHOOO! TCU tomorow, then Texans on Sunday!
Our secondary has been a carousel of names the last 3 years. Hopefully last season was just a bad hiccup and Fred Bennet can pick up on the same momentum he was building 2 years ago. Ditto Amobe. Tomorrow is gonna be too long coming. GO TEXANS
Man, must...go...to...sleep. Need to make the time go by faster. I'm so pumped for the game! GO TEXANS!!!!!
