Unfortunately, we as a city are turning into the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Tampa Bay Bucs (70's), and the Clippers... We are begginning to accept losing and focus on moral victories and admit that we lost to a better team. We as fans need to demand more of our teams. Look at what the Astros are doing...we got past the 1st round and we got to the World Series. Then we fall right back down to mediocracy or worse. Granted that was an old team, but why didn't they sign their draft picks, or make better decisions? We were satisfied with just getting there...comparing our past success. The Rockets are a great example of fixing a bad situation. Rudy T. stepped down, and we hired a perfect coach for a young team in JVG. His games weren't pretty, and everybody didn't like him (Steve Francis), but he got us to the playoffs, and changed the atmosphere of the Rockets to a winning one. He gets an elite wing player, and we win 50 + games. Once we did that, our standards raised even more...we wanted out of the 1st round. Well in 2007, we were close but just missed out...they let JVG go. They also let Carrol Dawson go, who was honestly a bad GM. nice guy though and great assistant coach, but horrible GM. We wanted to become even better, a championship team so we hire Rick Adelman and a genius GM in Morey. We immediately get more talent and more wins, and a 2nd highest record 22 straight wins. Injuries hurt us in 2008, but in 2009 we got to the 2nd round before injuries hurt us again. But before Yao went down...we were title contenders! All it took was 5 seasons!! I understand you have to crawl before you walk, but basically we are babying the Texans. This is season 8. I can understand a bad season or two, or 3, but potentially 8 non-winning seasons?? Thats pathetic. As long as we continue to accept this losing culture, this will happen. We had won titles with the ROckets and naturally had to rebuild for 4 years...thats understandable. But we demanded a better team and better results, and just 2 years later, we won 50+ games, and 2 years after that a 2nd round appearance and almost won that against the eventual champs. stop accepting losing...we are not the Pirates or Royals, we are not the Cardinals or Buccaneers, and we certainly aren't the Clippers or Grizzlies...Atleast I really hope we don't become them.
it comes down to Bob McNair opening his wallet and looking to PROVEN NFL Coaching talent. Cowher, Holmgren, Gruden, Billick, Marty S, Shanahan. Complete control of football operations. These guys bring discipline, respect, and accountability, something Mr. McNair has been spouting off about all year. Put your money where your mouth is Bob
AGREED! please go and get Bill Cowher....Kubiak has proven only one thing....that he doesn't belong up here with the big boys...he may be a good coordinator or QB coach, but he's definetily not an NFL head coach.
I'm not giving up on Kubiak just yet, its only one game. Hopefully the team gets it together next week.
You have to watch John McClain rag on the Texans next to Anna Megan scroll down to the videos, it's really sad but funny. http://www.chron.com/sports/texans/
By the way, I'm giving the Texans a chance next week for one reason: Gus Johnson. You know something crazy will happen with Gus.
I dunno the %, but it's almost certain that a carrot like this would have to be dangled to reel in one of these guys
I was just about to post something about that interview, WOW, he was incredibly upset. He didn't hide any of it. And, he completely laughed at the idea of the Texans beating the Titans next week. This is the worst way this season could have started(except an injury to Andre Johnson or MWilliams).
Texans had so many shots to capitalize on Jet mistakes but the ball literally didn't bounce our way. Mario should of had that pick and there were a couple of balls fumbled in the first half that had they bounced our way could have turned things in our favor. What hurts the most is that Rex Ryan thoroughly out-coached anyone on our sideline. Simply embarrassing.
You're making it sound like it was bad luck with these statements. We were manhandled on both sides of the ball.

We know Kubes "It's my fault." basically what he always says after a loss.
doesn't fit, Coach Mora was only willing to own up to getting their asses kicked in the second half, we got our asses kicked all afternoon long.
Uh, yeah cat, the voices in my head.... You are really embarrassing yourself concerning this topic. Stop being such a homer and use your brain. http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2009/09/if_schaub_was_h.html And I'll absolutely up the bet to $200. You offered, I accepted. Done.
All the interview baloney from both coaches and players is nonsense. Yeah it is one game, blah, blah, blah. This team was working in the spring, had training camp, had a preseason (where they basically stunk) to work out the kinks, get better, and all that stuff. This is a team that hasn't looked good in preseason, still doesn't look like they know what they are doing. Bottomline, they may not be the most talented bunch, but they look seriously outcoached in every phase of the game. I think McNair should pull the plug soon and try to salvage the season. How much worse can it get? Well it can get alot worse, try next week for example. This bunch will get absolutely creamed in Nashville. Mark it down.
