Who said the Titans game would be close? Did they see them play the Steelers? Oh my, it is going to be so bad most can't even imagine. I'll go 55-10 (Titans) if the Texans play better than they did this week. As I said in the preseason this team has no "snap" in their game. With a few exceptions, they look lifeless and poorly coached. The play calling is amateurish, lacks creativity. Did you see the Cougars offense? A thing of beauty; very difficult to defend. I love all the mis-direction and how they mix it up.
If Slaton doesn't fumble it's doubtful the horrible one-dimensional/uninspiring play calling and bad protection packages would have changed. Schaub was running scared all day and we got owned. I could have sworn seeing him tearing at the eye on the sideline. THE ONLY bright spot, was Joe Texan giving Jones the bird and our initial run defense on lockdown mode for a short time.
Help me on this one, I want to get it, but, unfortunately, I need a hint. Hey, and did you read my Bob Allen and Kube interview? It got no response, but I really liked it.
Probably should start looking at signing NFL Caliber talent for our secondary Free agents for 2010's uncapped season (don't exactly know the effect Uncapped would have) C. Rogers, C. Hobbs, Marlin Jackson, Terrance McGee , ect ect. pipedream, but it's time to field atleast a semi-pro secondary. Bless you Dunta, but you're probably gone after this season.
Albert Haynesworth. Yes that bob allen, kube interview was awesome. Just one of many to come. Here's to a win in Tenn....
Don't worry though, all will be good. There will be a stretch of games (probably weeks 10 and up when we are already out of the playoffs) where we look REALLY good and then everyone will say "Man...Next year is going to be great, just watch!" That is what it is like being stuck in mediocrity. We have other teams passing us up every year, every season expecting that 'breakout' year we never get. Really, I don't blame a guy for Andre if he wants out and the rest of the good players on this team, as long as they don't go to the Titans or Cowboys i'll be rooting for them.
Dunta does not deserve the money he is asking...he really is not that good. Let Robinson and Daniels walk. Give D. Ryans his money. Invest the money from Robinson and Daniels into the defense (DT and secondary).
I'm not ready to call for Kubiaks head yet if thats what you thought. I am for the first time seriously questioning if he is the guy. I think the next few weeks will tell the team what they need to know. But I'm saying if they do make the change Cowher is who I want
I agree post injury. We should trade Daniels before we lose him outright, because I heard that we're going to take another TE in the draft. There will be riots in Houston if McNair lets either Ryans or Williams go. Highly doubtful, but you never know with this genius.
agreed on joe texan - highlight of the day. but here's where knee-jerk overrides thought-provoke. jets are up 7-0 and the texans had moved inside the jets' 20 on the back of a nice 8-play, 53-yard drive at the time of the fumble... if they punch it in there - and no guarantees, obviously - but if they could have scored a TD on that drive, it's a *totally* different game. they didn't, and the jets went onto romp. maybe they do anyway. but i thought that was the back-breaker.
Man the secondary and a big DT has been holes on this defense for YEARS now and it NEVER gets addressed. We just expect to draft some guy in the 6th round and that will fill'er up real good. We don't ever even ATTEMPT to go after big name free agents.
I don't see anything changing as long as Bob McNair is making positive net income for his $950m plus investment. When you start to see empty seats, maybe things will change. Until then expect the status-quo because he's selling club seats, pennants, jerseys, and team programs. Of course he could actually be serious about all that Accountability nonsense.
I was thinking the same thing on free agents, need to go after a stud on D, Who I don't know. But they have made attempts at Dt but have just missed on them
I hope we find out a way to protect Schaub next week against that Tenn defense. Haynsworth is gone, but that defense is still top-tier. It could be a brutal/long body-cast type of day. I'm a positive guy in real life. Just not on Sundays.
The game plan will likely have an emphasis on that.... along with short quick passes, screens, and trying like heck to establish the running game. Today's game plan was as if the Texans felt they weren't facing an elite defense... not a complete stretch given the fact that they were missing two of their best defenders, and its Ryan first year/game with them. Low and behold, he had them playing as good as the Ravens played us last year... in just week 1... without two of their best players. Either they're a lot better than we thought, or we're a lot worse than we thought.... its probably somewhere in the middle.
There is only so much a QB can do when the coach will not let him call an audible at the line of scrimmage.
Well I been stop going to the games personally, nothing to get excited over. Again Kubes is a good coach, but he's not the guy that's going to take this team over the top. The offense has all these weapons, look at fantasy projections...and what do we do with em'? Nuttin, they get completely shut down week one OPENER. OPENING GAME, where the players and city both have high expectations. Jets just smashed those. Well Okoye is a pass rushing DT. We need a big run stuffer like Haynesworth or Jenkins. Thats why teams can just run up the gut all day, it's been a need for us. I hope we address it, along with the MAJOR secondary concerns and this team has always had a crappy safety. Two TDs were because of bad safety play today...i'm sure though we'll draft a guy in the 7th round to fix that next season though Maybe one year we'll actually find the diamond in the rough we're looking for. Well Cushing did do well though for his first game, so that's good. We'll play better against the Titans, but it probably won't be good enough for the Win and no one around here wants 'moral' victories anymore.
