I assume this is posted elsewhere, so I'll just toss it in this thread. The original article by Rosen is horrible, but the first comment about the article is solid gold. http://hoopshype.com/columns/rosen/on-lin-leaving-new-york comment in response to the article
hey guys. do any of you know if jeremy lins press conference is open to the public? i wanna go later. i live by downtown.
Honestly dk where this season is going, but i can already see you guys eating this guy up when things get shaky. He isn't worth all the money imo, just a regular talent.
Does anyone think there will be a target on Lin's back because of his contract? Really he is only getting paid 5 million a year for the first two years and then 15 million in his third year. I like to think that all NBA players go hard irregardless of how much they get paid. For example nobody takes it easy on Sessions and Steve Blake. The media is really pushing this idea that guys will come gunning after him to shut him down because he is getting such a huge payday after only 25 starts but even top draft picks get big paydays and they have played 0 games in the NBA. The media likes to push anything in regards to Lin because he is popular anyway. Thoughts?
May or may not be the case, but even if it's true, Lin can take advantage of that, if he's a good floor general - passing to the open teammates. Young players tried to dunk on Yao, and that extra effort was usually not good for the game flow. If that being-extremely-hard-on-certain-player playbook translates to Rockets win, opponents will stop after some attempts. If Lin is easily bullied by no-name young guards with his own 6'3 and 230lbs body, then he's not worth the 8 million.
My cousin Jeremy Lin appreciates the love and support man. He told me to tell y'all that. Don't have pics he's not a phaggot. On the down low, Im need of some cash. Can anybody help me out?
I know this is not exactly Rockets stuff, but it does seem pertinent to events of the last couple of days, and it was information that I never knew, had never known the situation in NY and the Knicks apart from the Isiah Thomas weirdness, so this article was a fun read, and especially this video: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YIiM91tc1fk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Yes, that is the guy who just gave us Lin. Maybe I was just being oblivious, but I never really knew just how comically absurd the situation is up there with that imbecile as their owner. The link to the video, and the reason it is there in the first place, can be found in this article from 2010 by Bill Simmons: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/32425/sports-guy-vault-the-james-dolan-theory This article could have been written yesterday and it would have been no less pertinent, but if Simmons was this disgusted by Dolan then, just imagine how he must be feeling now..
If they're going with the Welcome Back theme.... then they must make this the theme song!! <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QVS3WNt7yRU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
No not even young guards. But the more experienced players. Guys like Russell, Parker, CP3 blah blah blah. I guess it depends on the team. Assuming that we re-build and keep the young guys we won't be that much of a threat to opposing teams so i am doubtful that they will actively work to crush us. The NY media has just been really pushing this notion that Lin has a target on his back now which I think is absurd. Trying to push the notion that guys around the NBA will be jealous of him cause he is unproven and still got a big payday whereas they are more experienced and some haven't reaped any benefits. But then again it is the NY media and they are actively assassinating Lin's character. I think he will be fine, yeah guys will step up to play him, not because of his contract I think but more so his popularity but I think Lin can handle it.
Or this. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ucYDhOV3WqY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
