Well at least the Rockets have a point guard with capable NBA skills. i don't think Lin is further along than either Dragic or Lowry, but at least Lin is skilled enough to lead the Rockets. Lin Martin / Lamb Parson / White Patterson / Jones / Morris Motiejunas
It would not apply to Gordon, only to 2nd rounders that far exceeded their expectations. Likewise there aren't many that fit into this category.
Bzzz. Gordon's a first rounder. His contract is basically 13, 14, 15, 16. The whole "You can only offer MLE" is for player who are FA after only two years in the league - basically 2nd rounder or undrafted players, like Lin and Asik. Of course, since many 2nd rounders who get offered those deals aren't very good, these situations are very rare. Theoretically, if we gave Hassan Whiteside a big contract, it would also follow that MLE rule. But not Gordon.
If they took the offer sheet, they would officially have a cap hold on Lin. Thus making it harder to work out a SnT for Felton, but they made it work. Felton took less money.
I think Howard would play a lot better with Lin than Bynum would. Bynum's not a pick and roll big, Howard is. Bynum is a post up player, like Yao was. Lin would just be standing there looking at Bynum waiting for a spot up, which is not his strong suit.
Well we have our all star PG and face of the franchise kind of at least somebody from the team will be talked about in the media
Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen Quick, Lin-free update from Rockets summer league: Greg Smith was excused from the team after missing the bus to Sunday's walk-through.
Reminded me of when Cuban let go of Nash for nothing. Then Nash went on to win 2 MVPs... Jeremy, are you hearing me? Flipside is, Dallas won a championship years later
Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen Quick Lin update from Rockets summer league: NY still has not told Lin of their intentions and likely will not. He can read it in the paper.
