So is this going to change RFA? I mean the new luxury tax. The poison pill deals may really change RFA? Will we see teams lock up RFA before their contract expires that way they won't have to deal with a possible poison pill. Are we going to see more RFA change teams because at first it was pretty rare and now already have two and I may be forgetting some. Fields and Lin. Imagine if Harden was offered a poison pill deal...do you guys really think OKC would want to pay the luxury on that deal? They'd have to make a tough decision...
Obviously Greg is the centerpiece of a Dwight Howard package. Stay tuned. Big things happening tonight!
poison pill part of the Arenas provision doesnt apply to that many players like we didnt already experience this back in 2002
Oh dear god, not Greg Smith... I wanted to see him grow and see if he could be something for us, oh well I guess.
Expect to see a lot of PnR and Jeremy Lin iso if he comes heres. It'd be like that 7 game stretch of Linsanity except for the entire season. Lin/Dwight would be PnR heaven.
Ah okay, but still I'm guessing if a 2nd round guy shows he's worth a lot more than initially thought we might see more RFAs change teams. If another team offers Parsons such a deal I can imagine the Rockets having to make a tough decision especially if it puts them over the tax.
I was thinking a lot about Lin/Bynum last night and I think that would be really good too. Imagine Lin Lamb Parsons Motiejunas Bynum (Probably won't get to keep all those three prospects but it's nice to dream.) Whether we get Bynum or Howard, I will be happy... long as we get one of them.
Kind of tired of hearing about the poison pill deals. My understanding is the Arenas Rule governs this. If we offered Gordon a 4 year 58 million contract, it would have had to be by rule yr 1 MLE 5mil, yr 2 MLE plus 4.5% at 5.225 YR 3 23.88 and yr 4 23.88 as long as the average of the 4 yrs fits under the teams current cap space. Nobody is talking about a poison pill phoenix gave to NOLA. All RFA contracts are structured exactly the same. The only reason ours is being talked about is because of the Knicks cap situation.
