Missed the game, damn DVR didn't record it. Obviously a loss, so I'm a little happy I didn't see it. BUt kind of miffed, Matt had good numbers again and we lost....
The Texans are really starting to frustrate me. They always play down to their opponents level, and then lose. Our defense is playing absolutely miserable, while the offense is playing good. The only way we will make the playoffs is if our defense starts to improve greatly, or else the elite quarterbacks and runningbacks will absolutely pick us apart. We can only wait and see how this plays out, but not on the right track. I had such high hopes for the team coming into the season, only to have them torn apart by two losses at home. I'm still not counting them out, but it's gonna take some tremendous play to boost my confidence in the team to where it once was.
You know what sucks? I have reached a point where things like the Brown fumble don't surprise me anymore. Yeah, it hurts...but it is almost expected. It never ceases to amaze me the way we lose games That's a terrible way to feel about your favorite team
Don't fumble at the 1 and give the ref's a chance to take it away. No excuse for not holding onto the rock at that point. I'm not gonna blame the ref....I'm gonna blame our RB that couldn't wrap his hands around the ball.
I feel like Slaton should have been in the game. He is our play maker. You saw MJD out there at goal line situations and he always cashes in. Most teams utilize their premier back in situations like today. Can anyone explain if there really was a legitimate offensive pass interference on that td play? We didn't get good replays at the game. I deleted the game right when I got home. I'm not reliving the misery of todays effort.
I also wanted to point out that it was foolish to challenge that last play. One angle showed it was a fumble so it would have been nearly impossible to overturn the initial ruling on the field. We needed the extra timeout and I felt like we gambled out there.
It certainly was not foolish, they were desperate at that point. I would have been mad had they not challenged that play.
Why didn't Kubiak challenge the pass interference call that took away their touchdown? Was a challenge not allowed there?
Desperation led to losing the timeout that we desperately needed. Gotta stay poised kinda like how Sumlin was Sat night by not going for 2, but choosing to kick the extra point instead. There wasn't any evidence to overturn the original ruling on the field. If I knew that, the Texans coaching staff also knew that there was a slim chance for the play to be overturned. And all I had to view the play was a small piece of ish Panasonic TV that was in our section.
How would the extra time out have helped? When Smith got the horse-collar tackle, the game was essentially over. They had a first down with less than a minute to go. A timeout would have done nothing.
Would it be realistic for Kolb to come back to Houston and play for the Texans? I know he just went up against KC but signs point to him being a successful NFL QB....
Two games is far too small of a sample size. Vince Young had a whole year of games to judge him by and it turned out to be completely unrepresentative of the player he is. The Eagles probably hope Kolb goes off this year and they can Matt Cassell him to some desperate team.
why is that weak and attention whoreish?? he's giving his opinion, the same as everyone else here...and saying he's become so involved with the texans that it's too much to watch. that it's not fun for him to watch anymore.
what bandwagon?? there never was a bandwagon. we've all forced hope for this franchise over and over and over again...only to be continually disappointed. i don't see anyone here pledging allegiance elsewhere...as Houstonians, for the most part, we're all sort of stuck with this franchise, like it or not. but getting excited over a regular season win is to be expected...that doesn't create a bandwagon. i will say what fan base they have is built almost entirely on novelty and appreciation for merely having an NFL team back in town that's associated with the city. that won't last forever.
If defense like this continues, Frank Bush should be let go after the season. I like the guy, but so far our defense is even worse than it has been under Richard Smith. I know he doesn't deserve all of the blame for the d-line getting no push and players blowing assignments, but something's gotta give. That MJD long TD run wasn't shocking in the least bit. It's just so disappointing after the feeling last week that maybe that was the game that would help us turn the corner.
Story of the Texans Defense: Lack of Coaching (players not staying focus and especially on 3rd downs) and lack of discipline. Jags ran lots of fake or actual reverses today, ran some counter plays where the defense goes one say and MJD cuts back, and Bennett just plain out SUCKS in every aspect.
this is one thing about the Texans running game that totally has me scratching my head. they've got no creativity in their running game. I can't remember a single counter or misdirection running play this year. how do you expect to fool a defense if you're just going in a straight line.
