Also, after editting your post, the game is still within the first 28 minutes of the half! How are you missing this?
I agree 99% the last 1% is that the refs had no better view of that "fumble" then you or I did. That WAS NOT a fumble, based on their view, and it should have never been called as such.
I will give you that it f***d them on this game, but what will be the excuse when they give up huge plays over and over again throughout the season? The offense will not keep them in every game, they are not good enough to overcome this every week.
He wasn't cut from the Titans they just let him in free agency. They drafted Chris Johnson and already had Lendale White. Brown doesn't play special teams so he can't be a 3rd string back.
Did anyone else notice how late that interference flag was thrown? I remember watching the replay they showed the Walter "pick" then he went on with his route (about 6 steps), dressen got open and caught the touchdown as the flag was being thrown.
I don't think DD watches as much NFL as he does NBA... cut him some slack. (granted, this should be even more reason why he shouldn't state his opinions here as "fact"... when there is not much base to it).
This IS clear. The final 2 minutes is defined by the 2 minute warning, whether it is 2:00 or 1:50 or whatever. You are intentionally being obtuse because you can't admit you are wrong, despite the fact that this has been the precedence since the challenge system was implemented.
So when are the Texans actually going to address the defense problem? The coordinator last year>>>>>>>>>>>Frank Bush. The game should've been decided in OT or the Jags final drive. At least give the Texans D a chance to do something. Refs took our TD away. Praying for a Colts loss that way today won't look so bad.
I'd be suprised if something isn't done this week... maybe not a firing, but possibly some guys being taken out of the rotation, and them working on completley new schemes.
I believe that was because the "pick" play is generally not called unless it has the potential to affect the play (right or wrong). So they probably wouldn't have thrown it if Schaub threw the ball somewhere else on the field. But since the ball went right back to that area, it could have affected the play and therefore was thrown.
I thought it was a pick as well so I'm not all that upset at the call. To be fair, the Texans benefited earlier from a roughing the passer call on Schaub that clearly wasn't while I thought that Barber hit on Gerrard where he drove him into the ground was clearly a roughing the passer foul that wasn't called. So it really cuts both ways. The refs didn't cost the Texans this game.
To everyone responding. Yes Brown fumbled the ball. He should be punished for that. It is irrelevant if he was down or not, you can't give the refs another chance to screw you over and hold onto that ball AT ALL COST even if it means you might lose a yard instead of getting a TD. As for giving up huge plays, I completely agree. I'm not excusing the defense at all. This team, the best it can be is ABOVE AVERAGE because we have scrubs starting at CB#2, FS, and SS. Complete backup players. Look at all these guys, late round picks and other teams cut players. Unacceptable. It's about time the Texans draft a legit CB,SS,FS or get one through FA. But still, I had complete confidence that the defense was going to make the stop to give our Offense one more shot to win the game. Because our defense has made the stops when they needed to in the 4th. Defense never got the chance because a COMPLETE BS call. Walter is literally running his route, you can't call PI if the guy is looking back at the ball. They always say that crap "They aren't going to call it because he looked back..." or "He never looks back so they are going to call it." and both guys just run into each other. That's BS, if you're the ref you better be 100 percent sure that you saw a PI to take away a TD like that. Texans WILL bounce back. Can they make the playoffs, it really is dependent on the Colts. They won't win enough games to make Wildcard though, not how they are playing.
The rule I cited sure seems like it...but whatever.... I do not watch as much NFL anymore......was a die hard Oiler fan...trying to get into the Texans but really think they are a vanilla offense and defense. Easy to build a game plan against. If I am wrong I am wrong...but that is not clear by the rule cited, you read it as inside the 2 minute warning...which is not what it says...... At the 2 minute mark that is after the first 28 minutes....we are arguing semantics.... DD
Fred Bennett is AWFUL...can't cover and definately can't tackle. What is Reeves status? IMO, I would invest more resources at the safety position then at DT, someone that is two-dimensional (can play the run/pass), and is a legitimate playmaker
You ARE wrong. Are you seriously trying to say that "inside 2 minutes" is not considered after the 2 minute warning, even though that is how challenges have been handled since the system came into effect? You are making yourself look completely ignorant.
Dick Justice on his twitter said that Chris Brown broke down and cried in the locker room after the game.
No one respects the Texans or fears them in the least bit. And really, why should they? We've been a joke for far too long. Bring on Cowher, I say. We need some swagger and a new identity.
