I think everyone acknowledges the defense played like ****, but the texans played well enough for the tie and the refs took that opportunity away.
The rule does not say that though.......seriously, someone find out.... Let's end this...because the link I showed was the rule as written.... DD
Well, they have a lot of low IQ players on defense.... and they have very little awareness (see Chris Johnson being wide open). That's probably on a combination of the players and coaches.... but more disciplined and demanding coaches can help some of those mental lapses. All signs point to getting better coaching for their current defense. They won't win with this bunch, no matter how good the offense is.
I don't have a copy of the NFL rulebook. However, it has come up multiple times in games over the last few years, and the announcers have always explained it, and the coaches and referees have always used that standard.
What happened to our D line...Mario has been good but what about that 20 year old ....is he just too young? DD
Major explained it earlier pretty clearly, why are you still arguing about it? Just being a blockhead?
Geez you are hard headed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant_replay_in_American_football http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/upgrade/1280036.html
Its implied that since the clock automatically stops once it reaches 2 minutes (or less), that THAT is the demarcation of when the call goes to the review booth. And, the rule does say that.... because "in 2 minutes" means plays run past the point at which the two minute warning has commenced.
No I wouldn't say that but when do you finally say enough is enough ? This team has a lot of talent but what another 8-8 season ? I have watched every Texans game but like I told my friend when the game was over " Same ole song and dance year in year out ! " I'll continue to root for them but they aren't going anywhere giving up more yards on Defensive busted plays than any other NFL team !
"In the final two minutes of each half and in overtime, only the NFL replay assistant in the television booth or press box can call for a video review. There is no limit to the number of replay reviews the replay assistant can request." The play was not "in" the final two minutes of the half. The wording is sufficiently clear for this instance. Nothing had taken place in the final two minutes. You have to look at it from a time-clock stance. The game had not reached the final two minutes. We were "at" the point where the next play would be "in" the final two minutes.
I still don't get the play that they called offensive interference on Walter....I just didn't see it nor did the announcers
The rule perfectly encompasses what happened. I've now explained it three times using your link provided.
The refs decided the game folks. You can talk about how bad the defense is...and you'd be right. You can talk about Brown fumbling the ball, and you'd be right. But when the refs make a horrible call to TAKE AWAY A TD to TIE THE GAME. A Call no one would agree on, they decide the game. Because you know what? If the Texans had that TD to keep, the defense would have had a shot to stop them. Maybe get the ball back and win, or win in OT. If that happen everyone would say "Defense makes stops when it counts." Mario had made that stop if it weren't for a bad tackle. So the Refs decided the game. You can complain about the defense and how it needs to be better, and you'd be right. But that was a HORRIBLE call, similar to the Hoculi call last year, this ref should be demoted or fired. The NFL can't have ref's out there making horrible calls like that. If that was PI, you can call OPI on every play the WR route happens to run into a guy. That could EASILY be Def PI. It SHOULD have been no call, TD. I hate when refs decide **** like this.
Here is the rule as stated on another site: "In the final two minutes of each half and in overtime, only the NFL replay assistant in the television booth or press box can call for a video review. There is no limit to the number of replay reviews the replay assistant can request" Link The after the 2 minute warning that you quoted would be clear...but the one I quoted is not.... Which is the actual rule? I read that completely differently Ashes....no offense. Here is more of the rule: "For the first 28 minutes of each half, coaches must challenge an official's call to have it reviewed. " DD
they have low IQ players for sure. but they have enough talent to supress and win, and when talent isn't getting it done.....point to scheme... adios frank bush.
I agree it was a terrible call.....but in all honesty whether the 2 minute rule matters or not. Chris Brown was cut from Tennessee because of injuries and fumblitis......and...well....now we see why. DD
How can it be read differently? It says "in the final two minutes." The game itself wasn't even "in the final two minutes." At no point was anything ran "in the final two minutes." This is very clear. I would disregard the wikipedia quote, but yours is very clear.
I lost it when they showed The Chosen One standing on the sideline listening to his MP3 player during the game.
