They're the defending AL champs so they have good reason.

Wish I could've watched the game to see the strike-zone.

Astros with 2 more outs on the bases... in a game they could barely muster a hit... smh. Stealing 2nd with 2 outs doesn't do much. It's almost as bad as making the 3rd out @3rd. Springer is good for a f*** up once every 10 games.

    Avoid the damn sweep tomorrow.

Good thing we only play them one more time this regular season. Hopefully we play again in the playoffs. Have to beat the best to be the best and I think we have the talent to do it.

They sucked at home for the first two weeks of the sesaon, but since then, they've been outstanding at home offensively.

Truth. This lady sitting next to me at the game- big-time Astros fanatic- she's tracking every pitch on some app she has- "this ump is calling ****"- "look at how many are outside the strike zone"- "unbelievable"- again, this is not me saying it - she said she goes to about 40+ home games every year - she's retired- she said the HP ump was awful early and it threw them off the entire game. Take it for what it's worth.

I did get Lance McCullers to sign the bobblehead before the game- so pretty good day overall.

Not sure where to put this, but a clip from Fangraphs Sunday Notes on a Berkman interview in the minors. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/sund...as-maturity-norris-on-comping-vladdy-jr-more/

“Another time, Lance Berkman had eight RBIs against us. I think he was with Colorado Springs. I went into their clubhouse, and a card game was going on. I said, ‘Hey Lance, great game last night. Do you have time to do a pregame with us for Vegas radio?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, I’ve got time. Why don’t you come by the dugout at 7:10 and I’ll talk to you all you want.’ I go, ‘Are you serious?’ He goes, ‘Yeah. Come by at 7:10. No earlier.’ I go, ‘All right. Thanks a lot.’ The game was at 7:10.”

Not really looking forward to Evan Gattis being the everyday C, even if it is only for a week.

No 40-man roster move required; Astros have 39 players on it

Guess we were due for some injuries but what's with the retroactive designations? Is this a common thing?

Yes. I expect it will be even more common with 10-day DL for non-concussion issues. Teams try to see if it will be a day or two, but when a little longer, it is easier to apply 10-day DL for guy that will be out for 5-6 days instead of 15.

Thanks. Makes sense. Just don't remember seeing it before.

It can be retroactive to the day after their last game played.

Very common in baseball. You can retroactively designate back to the last time a player played. This allows you to take time to decide if the player is going to miss a day or 2 or go on the DL.

    We need his W!

These injuries suck, but thankful they're not worse.

Non-prospect AAAA guy. Actually got a decent chunk of PA's with the brewers last year and put up a decent catcher OPS of .704.
