...and you've been screaming for shooters, and for a tough power forward, and for athletic players, and for defensive specialists, and for fiery players, and for smart players, and for a tough coach, and for a player's coach and, and, and....- blah blah blah let's face it man, you've just been screaming. No need to invoke your history here - we all know the drill.
I already did the homework for you earlier in this thread. The numbers are not even and Rafer does not beat Hinrich in any statistical catigory except turnovers. And he was 2nd string all defensive team in 06-07 so I would definitely say he is better than Rafer at defense.
I hear ya, but I dont think you can win with Rafer on a consistent basis as your starter. Yao and Tmac are getting older....who the HECK cares if Les has to go into Lux tax to make it happen...it is not our money. Thanks on the sig bit, I am just trying to look at realistic options that don't blow up the team that won 55 games last year and were without their best player for 1/4th the season. DD
Well if Les is gonna open up the check book well hell let's get Baron davis! Only 5 million more than Kirk and a REAL upgrade!!
So you're saying Hinrich's career numbers in steals and rebounds are greatly superior to Alstons? If so, then I need to write to NBA.com and have them check that out. And I didn't claim that Rafer's numbers were better than Hinrich. No, I stated that they are pretty comparable considering how much we want to burn Rafer at the stake and how much everyone apparently loves Hinrich's numbers. But if you think paying 6-7 million dollars more per year for 2 more assists, a few more free throws, and 1 less turnover per game, then I guess I'll respect that. As for All-Defensive Team, all I got to say is this: They put Bruce Bowen on the First Team instead of Battier. There's your credibility right there.
Hey, I'm with you DD. Alston is not going to get us a championship and that's a fact. It's just I think it's not feasible (i.e. realistic) to get Hinrich without giving up someone that we need like Battier or Landry. There's absolutely no way that Chicago is going to trade him for pennies on the dollar. Hey I hope they would be that dumb but I'm pretty sure they would rather let Ben Gordon walk than to trade Hinrich for Bobby Jackson, Steve Francis' Ghost, and a draft pick.
But they might, sometimes teams just want out of long term contracts and build for the future....if they draft Rose, Hinrich has no place for them........might as well get out of over half of his remaining contract. DD
And you think Battier is a better defender than Bowen? Oh well I guess that is another argument that I don't want to get into right now.
why is everyone saying that extra 5 m in contract actually meant something. Who in the FA can you get with that extra 5m? Pietrus? So which is the better side? The current team with Pietrus or a team with Heinrich but minus a couple bench players. I rather have the trade for a starter, then use rookies or vets to fill up the bench.
This is a very interesting topic. When it comes to basketball I am an optimist, so I believe that Kirk can play well on this team. I would love to get Kirk without giving up Rafer, but I don't know if it is realistic. What happened to the Mo Williams from Milwaukee trade? I thought getting Mo Williams was a realistic option. Who do you guys believe would be better for this team, Kirk Hinrich or Mo Williams?
If the bulls drafted Rose, they will be rosters full of perimeter players(PG,SG,SF) like Rose, Duhon, Gordon, Deng, Nocioni, Hinrich whereas their frontlines have the likes of Thomas, Noah and Gray. If they traded with us, i will see Bulls at least asking for Landry or Scola for Hinrich. No way Paxson would want Alston!
No, I'm saying you gotta question the credibility of this All-Defensive team and/or the voters if Bowen is on the first team while Battier, who played better defense the whole season, was put on the 2nd team. Understand now?
Again, why would the Bulls be so eager to trade H-I-N-R-I-C-H for pennies on the dollar? Because they're gonna draft Rose? If anything, that would lead to more teams calling Chicago and that would lead to Hinrich's value going up. And it's not like they haven't played a small backcourt yet either (e.g. Gordon and Hinrich together) so the assumption that the arrival of Rose makes Hinrich expendable is kind of farfetched...especially if it's for caproom when that's something they aren't in dire need to have. IMO, you would have to throw in more than "a couple of bench players" to get Hinrich and that's the problem with our assets: After Yao, Tracy, and, to a lesser extent, Shane, our trade assets value-wise take a significant nose dive.
You're on the right track here... I have no idea why people think that this young team is willing to take on our crap and salary caproom for a really good starting PG. I think they are much more likely to move one of their other guards or get more back for Hinrich. Stop dreaming guys. The smart teams that are going somewhere don't fall for the old cap relief poo poo platter. Deals like that are more likely to come from crappy teams that have big contracts like the bucks and the nets.
Official I DON'T Want Kirk Hinrich Thread I really don't want the second coming of Matt Moloney... we don't need a PG who can't play a lick of D! Plus he's got a long term contract (4 years left). A bit off putting how he played well the year he was looking for a new contract, but not the year immediately following getting one. I'd much prefer Earl Watson.
