Wife and I just got back from casting our votes. Just in time for the game. BTW- I did NOT vote straight GOP. I voted Libertarian in every local and state race possible. I just know better than to think Barr could win the POTUS.
I voted around 6PM. I think I voted for 14 Republicans. A couple only because there was not Democrat and I wasn't about to vote Libertarian.
Well, The_Conquistador voted today -- location undisclosed. I will say that the line I stood in wasn't exactly a portrait of society's best. That's ok, I did not make physical contact with anyone, so the good news is that I am safe. Whew.
I voted a couple of days ago. The only race where I didn't vote Democratic was where the Republican didn't have one running against him/her... so I voted for the Libertarian candidate. Normally, I end up voting for a couple of Republicans I like, a judge or a county official. Not this time.
45 minute wait in my San Francisco neighborhood. Beautiful crisp weather and people in good spirits. I have to say it's never felt this good to vote. Lots of smiles to be seen. Very happy to be here at work... "Damn it feels good to be a ZOMBIE!" <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/I1L8l3LrzLA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/I1L8l3LrzLA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Voted in Baltimore county this morning. No line at all. In and out in 5 minutes. However, our voting machines are Diebolds with no paper trail. Don't like that at all. I'm going to look into what can be done to change that.
I voted and it took more than an hour. My polling place is just down the street and I could see people lining up to vote at 7AM. I decided to go at 11 thinking to avoid the lunch rush but sure enough the line was still a quarter way down the block. On the plus side I found out that Hong Kong Star Tony Leung of Infernal Affairs and Hero is running for district court judgeship in MN.
I found this little bit on this subject to be brilliant: "As I traveled this morning to my place of work, in an attempt to lead a productive life and earn my living, I saw the endless parade of people wearing those popular "I Voted" stickers on their lapels. And this morning I finally realized why those adhesive badges are colored red. When you vote, you have the blood of coercion, violence, war, theft, and illegitimate rule on your hands. It is more than an endorsement of a particular candidate or party, it is an endorsement of a system that rules over us all with an iron fist. It is a plea to the school bully to not take all of your lunch money, but just to steal a certain percentage of it. And it bends the rules of morality to assume that when 49 people out of 100 say something is wrong - it is, and when 51 say it is right, it is. "I want to wear a badge that says "I Did Not Vote." Not colored red, but white - for peace."
I just got back from lunch...and voting. Walked right in, waited for 1 person, voted and left. Took about 5 minutes total.
Me and the wife voted last Monday before the birth of our son on Tuesday. Now that I have a child I care alot more about the country he will grow up in. On a side not I am going to purchase the championship dvd's to make sure he brought up properly to respect the rocktes of the past.
Well I voted today. I didn't think I should, but I did anyway. I think I voted mostly Libertarian and Republican with a few exceptions where I voted for democrats in local races. Didn't vote for Barack, but didn't vote for McCain either. Bob Barr woooo! I know, I know... might as well have flushed my vote down the toilet. But dammit I believe in democracy, and voting is my solemn duty as a citizen in a democratic, liberty-first government. God Bless America!
