    Javier is a completely different pitcher when he's throwing 94 versus 92. Obviously everyone benefits from velocity but it's like night and day for him.

    Home runs are killing Javier. He has to get a little better control of the four seamer.

    The velocity certainly matters but he also doesn't have very good command of the four seam fastball today... and that has been his issue early this year.

    For Javier, his fastball needs velocity to generate the spin. His 91-92 mph fastball is an ordinary 91-92 mph fastball. His 94 mph fastball has a ton of spin which allows it to play like it is 98,99 mph.

    He cannot locate his fastball but he has to throw it ..... so there are going to be homers.......

    That has been what has killed him this year.

    He now has given up 6 home runs in 25 innings this season..... for comparison he has given up 10 total runs this season.

    Of the 10 runs he has given up, 9 have been as a result of home runs.

    Of those 10 homers, 8 have been on four seam fastballs.
