All those games we were watching amazed how in h*ll they keep winning and now we are finally at the point that games are just not falling our lap and every bad move/pitch gets punished. Joe's strategy for many extra inning games has been Hader and we have won huge amount of tight games allthough like 40% of time at decision time we have been thinking "wtf are you doing dufus!?". Then we have won and sighed "oh he was playing 4D chess with checkers board like those stable geniuses often do". Hopefully Dana and Crane will reward team's efforts at deadline. With this corp. the 2nd bye is not ours. Have to win tomorrow. We have lost the fear factor of winning against odds with oppo so have to work for it.
Only the second time all season Hader has thrown that many pitches in a game. It was also, by far, the most batters he's faced in a game this year. He has only faced that many guys a handful of times in his entire career, and almost none over the last seven seasons. I'm not sure what they were thinking leaving him out there that long.
It's hard to get mad when you have this line up and the bottom third have 7 strikeouts and in reality 7 & 9 are AAA players, I am more shocked that we came back and tied it up. Brown and Hader were bad on the same night, its gonna happen and karma has a way of balancing things out. The Mariners lost so no harm, no foul and TBH I wont be shocked if we lose today. We have to get our guys back
I definitely think they had something on Hunter based on their own paranoia that we would see later in the game. Props to their recon. on the balk Ford: " Was that intentional?" Sparky: "It sure was. Prevents Dubon from relaying any signs from 2nd."
Phillies got walked off by an inside the park HR after being up 3-1 in the 9th so I guess it could've been worse.
It's a long season. We were bound to lose a couple of games like this. Sucks that it was Hunter/Hader who gave it up. I'd be elated with 3-3 on this homestand going into the all-star break. This is desperately needs it. Side note: I wonder if Hunter Brown will pitch on Sunday vs the Rangers? I don't want him anywhere near an all star game mound!
I don’t understand why he didn’t go to Abreu in the 10th. He’s perfectly fine to get through that situation. I fet Hader for 2 if Abreu is already used, but that wasn’t the case, right? out on the west coast in San Diego so we went to dinner at 7:30 local time with my daughter so we could watch the sunset. I didn’t see anything past the t8.
Man I sure hope so. Then Framber can replace him, go to the game and also not pitch. Or face like one lefty for ***** and giggles on what would be a bullpen day.
Hard to say everyone "lowered it a gear" after the LA series when we lost these games because of Gordon and Hunter Brown's performance. They didn't even pitch against the Dodgers - makes no sense why they would be impacted, especially Hunter who is aiming for the CY award. Baseball is just a crazy sport. Guardians had been so cold that eventually they were due to score some runs. Unfortunately it happened against us.
That ball couldn't have been out of many parks so Hader did fine. Oh well. A little 4 game W streak heading into the break sounds delightful.
Yep, the Stros are as good as their pitching and the last couple of games the pitching hasn't been good.
I love how this game will constantly remind you why its a 162 game season. Yes, many in here live/die with every game... and live/die with each week's worth of games.... but if you're not already conditioned to the ebbs/flows of a baseball season in its entirety, it certainly takes a chunk out of your emotions. On the contrary, following every game throughout the season reminds me of reading a good book, or watching a really good series. Not every part is interesting, there are some weak episodes, but at the end you get the full experience and remember the highlights (or lowlights). Lastly, this is also why "playoff baseball" is basically another sport/league altogether.
