I was listening to 790 earlier and they talked about a radio interview that Amobi Okoye gave after the game yesterday....

    did anyone hear that interview??

Apparently he said something along the lines of:

    1. there's a group of players on the team, him being one of them, that need "external motivation..."

    and

    2. that they didn't get that motivation yesterday.

Did anyone hear him actually say these words...because I'm not remotely kidding when I say, I'd cut that guy immediately if that's the case. Need external motivation when you have a chance to extend your lead in the division???? When you're playing in front of the home crowd?

    Assuming it's true...that's pathetic.

Offensive playcalling has been poor in passing situations. They have been doing so much play action to the point that every team is expecting it. Every time Schaub turns the corner, there is a defender there to meet him and he is rushed to the sidelines. They are not going downfield like they used to. I feel like the new OC is not giving Schaub enough credit. He is calling a lot of David Carr type plays lately, or so it seems imo. They need to air it out more, they were at their best last season when Schaub was hitting Andre and Jacoby down field as often as possible.

our coaching staff is clueless. they know what they want to do, but when an opposing team has the personnel and a good scheme they are toast. they haven't the foggiest idea how to adjust.

Honestly, I don't think it's ever too early to think about that. Because the Texans didn't show up against the Jets last year in week 1, they missed the playoffs.

It was on 610 yesterday, and yeah, it's 100% true. Coming from somebody like Okoye, that's even MORE appalling. I was in shock when I heard him say it yesterday, and I even looked at my brother, and said "wow, he's gonna be put on BLAST when this interview gets out to the public". The guy has shown little to nothing his entire career so far, and now he's telling us that he didn't get the "motivation" that he needed to perform?? WTF is this, Pop Warner?? How about the fact that 70,000+ fans paid their hard-earned money to watch your bunk-ass play? That's not enough motivation for you?? I would AT LEAST bench him for the entire next game to send a message....if not just outrightly cut him.

That is absurd if true. Saying something like that deserves a benching for a game

I found some external motivation for him.

I feel like we've become extremely predictable with our playcalling. Teams have caught up to the fact that we're going to run every time we bring Walter in motion and line him up in the backfield right next to the tackle. Foster has been able to still turn this into gains previously, but the Giants were ready for it. They had an absolutely flawless defensive gameplan, and by the time we adjusted, we were already in the hole by three scores and were forced to pass ... giving their pass rushers all the advantage.

As Okam got called for that holding on a return yesterday, I could only look in awe wondering why he is even on KR in the first place. Why he is even suited up is beyond me. Okoye, Cody, and Mitchell get all the snaps at DT, and Smith moves inside on passing downs. You're telling me that it wouldn't benefit us to have Kasey Studdard active over Okam? Studdard is much more mobile and actually knows how to block, seeing as how he's an o-lineman.

I feel like they knew our gameplan too. The play action doesn't work if the other team knows it's coming and the runninggame hasn't been established.

I wonder if the loss of Kyle Shannahan is hurting us right now.

I was very impressed with Dennison's calling up until last week, especially in the red zone. I don't think the OC matters all that much under Kubiak though...they're just executing his offensive gameplan.

Why? Was there a time for the halfback pass?

The play action was called perfectly last season and almost ALWAYS worked. It is being called far too often. Without looking up stats or anything, I would say half the called passing plays have been play action and they are not working because they are just doing it too much.

Agreed. Hey Rick Dennison, there's no point in doing a play action on 3rd and 15.

For sure. I happen to have found the OFFICIAL DaDakota portrait from his upcoming book "Greek Basketball: My Forbidden Love Affair":

It is supposedly dedicated to someone named VS.

After his callout from Bob McNair...I can't imagine:

    1. Okoye saying this now -- how freaking stupid; and

    2. there not being a consquence for it.

You wonder where the inconsistency comes from? This explains it as well as anything. If there are a group of starters who feel this way, we're in trouble.

Did he mention anyone else who was like him? I'm guessing not....

You'd think the drafting of Earl Mitchell would be enough motivation of Okoye.

Maybe he is motivated and this is all he is.
