Yeah, but you got literal....when I was saying...don't panic...they are still in first place in the division. I mean if you want to get into tie breakers or are even THINKING about that in the 5th week, that seems a bit much, don't ya think? As for knowing how the standings work, I probably have known how they work longer than you have been alive. DD
the defense was terrible... The CB's left so much cushion on the WR's and got beat with short passes and when they did try to jam them, they got beat over the top..the front four didnt even give manning pressure. hell he he had time to tie his shoe, dust of the ball, and check his email. And Arian Foster should of gotten more carries even though the Giants dd a good job getting penetration on the run and causing AF to make several moves just to get out of the back field. I don't rmember but didn't we do a screen play to the short side of the field....? I'm no coach but why?
Did anyone else notice that the Giants had us schemed perfectly, this concerns me because what they were doing was so successful it basically killed everything we do. Every time we ran that naked bootleg off the playaction they would send the weakside backer into the area that Schaub usually has all day to stand in and survey the field; this put immediate pressure on the QB and forced him to rush everything, it was kryptonite to everything we do. This play set is our bread and butter and if the rest of the league recognizes it, it may become to the Texans what fronting Yao is to the Rockets. It was low risk too because even if it is a run there is almost no risk of the backside having to honor the backside because there is almost no chance in a cut and go system that the play ends up going backside anyway. Just an observation I made yesterday, hopefully Kubiak figures out a retort.
that worries me as well. WHile i do love the playaction and bootlegs, the texans have been dipping into that well a bit too much, imo. Also, the Giants defensive front always seemed to know what was coming and were just waiting on the play, run or pass.
It was bad playcalling on our part. The Giants are too good penetrating from both DE positions - I mentioned that we should specifically avoid running this play against them because of that very problem. Opening playcall of the game (quick pass to flats) was good. Calling 3 consecutive passes after that....was the beginning of what was a D- day for the playcalling. Kubiak did a terrible job gameplanning for this Giants defense. For all the hell heaped onto Jackson (rightfully...but who keeps leaving him out there when he's clearly outmatched?), 10 points isn't beating too many teams in this league. 24 yards rushing against the #19 run defense isn't going to get it done. A 53 QB rating isn't going to get you over the hump.
agreed...but holy crap, they were playing catchup from the first quarter. you blink, and they're down 2 TD's. that's going to change everything on the offensive end of the ball.
Watching the game, it totally looked like they knew what we were going to run before we ran it. Conversely, it looked like we had no clue what to run to stop what they were trying to do to us. It's one thing if you were getting beat because of busts or whatever, this time we got out-coached and out-played. Sad, sad Sunday. Not sure where we get off thinking we can line up and set up the run with our passing game. We're not the early-90's Cowboys. We need to run to set up the pass. And if we can't afford to give up on the run so early like we did yesterday. Also, good God do we miss any semblance of a return game these days. In the past, we always had someone who could break off a big return on kickoffs (Andre Davis pre-2009). The past two years, we seem to settle to getting out to the 20 and going down. Yesterday was even worse, we got to the 20, but then got flagged for a penalty putting us on the 10 - seemingly EVERY FREAKING TIME. And although I love DA as a slot WR, he's not a great punt returner. That's not a DA issue, he's being asked to do something he's not going to excel at; that's a coaching problem. Repeatedly putting players in positions where they can't be successful. Next week is a save-the-season type game because after that we get BYE, @IND, and SD. At this rate, even BYE looks like it can put up 300 yards and 3 TDs on our sad-sack secondary.
We match up very well against the Chiefs, and we're at home. If we blow this game, the season takes a massive turn downward.
We're also 1-2 at home, coming off of two bad losses. And if Gradkowski can look functional against us, I'm sure Cassel and Charlie Weiss are looking forward to at "get well" game on our behalf.
DD, that's what I've always liked about you....you're such a happy person. I still remember the first time I saw you in Teen Wolf:
lol ignore it? he won't even see it! maybe you should print it out, in all bold of course, with some red print, then tape it onto the door of their practice facility. if it doesn't get ripped down by an attentive janitor before Kubes walks through that door, then he will have ignored it.
Cassell about to have a career day passing the ball........somebody gonna have a game of a lifetime .........Its happened every week so far 1.Week 1- Reggie Wayne 2. McNaab 3.Roy Williams aka slew foot 4. Gradkowski/Zach Miller 5. Hakeem Nicks 6.??? most likely Bowe or that rookie TE
You can be sure the Titans, Ravens, Jets and Eagles defensive coordinators will make a special note of this strategy.
we were having this what if we lose to the chiefs a few weeks ago. i'm telling you, if we lose to chiefs we will not make the playoffs and won't finish better than .500
I feel like everybody has covered the face that our secondary, defensive AND offensive lines, coaching, and Matt Schaub were all culprits in this game, but what about SPECIAL TEAMS?? I'm sick of watching kick-offs knowing for a fact that not only are we NOT going to break one to the house, but also praying to whatever God is up there listening that we can at least make it to the 20 yard line without a mother^%#*ing flag on the play. I don't know if it's Steve Slaton, our blocking schemes, or just plain sucking on all levels, but something has GOT to change. It's not doing our offense any favors constantly starting on our own 10 yard line every single drive. It's gotten to the point now where whenever we break out to the 25 yard line, an automatic flag gets thrown. The refs just make up a number on the spot because they know somebody somewhere must have had an illegal block in the back. For being "the best in the business", Joe Marciano sure has these guys some sloppy football.
