So I check in this morning.... and ya'll are talking about Matt Schaub? The defense was giving away TD's like candy yesterday in the first half. The offense was playing from behind..having to take chances..from the 2nd quarter on...down 3 TD's. Come on. Our pass defense is atrocious. All the Brian Cushings in the world aren't going to make our corners look better...and that was the story of the game in both of our losses. We were fortunate enough to be able to outscore our problems in the other games. I get pissed when I think about how this franchise handled the CB situation...the Dunta situation...heading into a season with so much potential and promise. It also doesn't help that Eli Manning could count off 9 seconds before having to throw the ball. Holy crap. Can we get someone to put some pressure on? Please?
ummm..have you been watching, RR? the offense has bailed the defense out in all 3 wins, and particularly the first 2. Those first 2 wins took historically good performances by Foster in week one and Schaub in week 2 to pull out those wins. Remember Schaub throwing for nearly 500 yards on the road against Washington to erase a 17 point deficit??? we were all pretty fortunate that Galloway dropped a TD pass after he burned the secondary AGAIN in that one. you guys are taking your eyes off the ball worse than Karim Jackson. the defense is SQUARELY to blame in yesterday's loss...and with even an average pass coverage this team would likely have 1 or no losses at this point.
196 yards passing 0 td 1 int 24 yards rushing 1 1yd td the defense has sucked every week, the offense has sucked the last 2 weeks.
The defense has been atrocious, no pressure from the front, no coverage in the back, and only the LB's really looking decent. The scheme is pathetic, and the players are playing terrible, putting far too much pressure on the offense. So much so, that when Matt Schaub has an off day, they can't pick him up, whereas Schaub and the offense has been picking up the defense all year long. DD
offense looked just fine last week. they put up 31 points. Schaub threw 2 TD's...Foster ran for about 140 yards.
Unfortunately I have to agree with you. Not unfortunate that we agree, but unfortunate that the defense has been so bad. I got the feeling right away yesterday that Schaub was off. I was optimistic with the first defensive stand, but that went in the toilet real quick.
That is NOT true! DD is actually a V-Span groupie. At least he was until the restraining order was issued...
On the second TD, I watched Kareem Jackson literally stand and watch as Hakeem Nicks ran past him completely untouched into a free spot in the end zone. It was disgusting. Here's Kareem Jackson standing and moping like a confused goat, and Hakeem Nicks just runs to an open space. Freaking Shirley Temple could have thrown that TD pass. I don't know what Frank Bush is doing, but if this continues for one more week and they don't make some kind of coaching change on that side of the ball, this team probably has no chance of making it to the playoffs. For goodness sake, the Patriots secondary is just as inexperienced as ours. But they at least make enough plays to not be pathetic. These guys couldn't stop Boise State if they tried.
Yep. There it is again. That same feeling I had after the Cowboys game. That feeling that I waited an entire week and didn't even get to watch an even remotely entertaining football game. I am Charlie Brown. The Texans are Lucy.
OK, listening to the Schaub apology session on 610. Blah, blah, blah - next week, need to forget about this game. I respectfully have to disagree with you here. The entire team (offense & defense) looked bad and worse, this was (yet) another game that the Texans failed to show up ready to play. This has become a recurrent theme and the blame for that has to fall on Kubiak who looked as clueless as Wade Phillips did yesterday. They are getting manhandled at the point of attack on both sides of the ball. OL is getting literally punked out there by physical teams. The DL is MIA once teams double Mario. They are being outschemed by opposing coaches. Kubiak was out coached again. They look soft and uninspired out there but the telling scene was in the 4th Qtr when they showed the Texans' bench and Moose & Kenny observed that the Texans looked like they had quit and Moose pointed out that they had actually quit at the half. They were a beaten team who got their butts kicked (guess the Cowboys game wasn't an anomoly after all) and that is totally unacceptable in my book so if you want to rip them, then rip them for that.
Without knowing whether there was supposed to be safety help over the top it is tough to place blame solely on KJ for that; his responsibility may have been the flats with the safety being responsible for the zone behind him. In fact, when he never turned his hips to run with Nicks it leads me to believe he was expecting safety help, whether he blew it by not knowing the call or the safety blew it we will never know; but it was a blown coverage on either his or Wilson's part...
He's tolerable in coverage, but that's about it. Being fair, that's not too unusual for a strong safety - those are the guys you want helping out against the run, blitzing, and laying someone out. Wilson and Nolan are our cover safeties - you need those guys to be ballhawks with fantastic instincts, reaction times, and able to break on the ball like lightning when a pass goes up. Nolan's working on the decision making, and Wilson is fading in his ability to get to the ball and make a play. A large amount of the problem is their decision making process in assembling the roster. We went into this offseason knowing Dunta was gone, that Pollard was a great hitter but mediocre in coverage, and that Wilson was slipping. Why they decided to select Jackson, a guy that was very obviously a hitter with dubious cover skills, and trot him out as a starter is beyond me. He has zero recovery speed when a receiver comes out a break and he's unable to anticipate the breaks to begin with. Disastrous. But Kubiak/Bush were apparently more concerned with a CB that could help in the run game (Chris Johnson coming around the edge). Again, this was the secondary that Kubiak and Bush intentionally put together. I was hopeful that Jackson would turn out to be a better cover guy than he seemed coming out....nope. It's like buying the biggest used pickup I could find and being disappointed in the fuel economy.
This is the problems as I see it : KUBIAK KUBIAK KUBIAK 1.Have you ever thought to yourself after a game since the Kubiak era , "Kubiak outcoached the other team?".......probably not 2. Isnt he supposed to be a offensive genius?.....roll out passes to the short side of the field aint cuttin it.... 3.Kareem Jackson should not be startin.......period!!! try him at FS ....cant be no worse than Wilson........plus isnt Kareem's strength supposed to be bump and run coverage and tackling?.........how is it he playing terrible on Sundays but manages to hold down the job through practices? Im sure he gettin roasted in practice too 4. Doesnt challenge enough during pivotal situations.......**** he dont challenge at all during those situations 5. Arian Foster should touch the ball at least 8 times in the opening quarter,,,,Its pretty much his team now.....too many times he trying to let the passing game open up the running game.........should be vice versa...Our passing game just aint clinking right now......... 6.why is Okoye still on the team ? 7. why we didnt go after any FS's this offseason is puzzling.....there were numerous FS free agents available (Rhodes, Adrian Wilson , the Rams FS)...hell there were numerous FS's availabe deep into the draft ....but we wanted 2 more TE's instead.... 8.Slaton should not be KO returner.....he runs like he just wants to keep hold on to the ball ....thats it.....doesnt even look like he trying to find a lane... 9. why is he bringing all these Denver Bronco personell over here?.........just hopes he takes them with him when he leaves
I saw him bite hard on the playaction numerous times yesterday, then have to try and turn and run to play catch up. He's basically an undersized LB and plays like it.
