I'm glad to see Castro get his first hit in his first game, first walk in the 2nd game, and first HR in the 3rd game. He just wants to show off in front of Posey.
Lee reaches into the dirty in Miggy fashion to help Cain get his 1st out... Yesterday, Lee almost fell down swinging at a pitch in the dirt. I know he swings out of the zone quite a bit and that he's an RBI guy but those are pitches he needs to lay off. For his career, he's a very good hitter but his barely above average OBP is what keeps him a tier below the best hitters. He's not even as good of a slugger as a lot of the super elite, including Berkman. Again, I'm talking career, not what's going on this season.
2 doubles for Bourn tonight as we chase Cain early. Nice to see Bourn have a couple of good games after quite a slump. It'd be nice to see him come around against LHP. He hit them great in 2009.
Another 3B error. At least it isn't Johnson this time. Instead its the waste of $4.5 million. Edit: Which leads to at least 2 unearned runs.
I have a feeling there will be a shaving cream pie with Jason Castro's name written all over it awaiting him...
Yea, CJ looked pretty sketchy in his first 2 games. The thing is, he appears to have some tools... good range, good arm, not sure about the glove... it seems like his problems are mental... rushing throws, losing concentration, etc... That all goes into it but I'd say there is a little hope that you can fix the mental aspects... can't teach a guy to have range or a better arm.
Castro swung at a pitch in the dirt there... against a struggling reliever. Oh well, he's not flawless...
Oh they'll get prospects for him if they trade him. They just won't be able to acquire the top tier prospect that they are hoping to get from an Oswalt deal. He definitely provides a lot of value in the stretch run because he can replace the worst starter for any team and that's a huge upgrade. He just doesn't provide quite as much value once the team makes the playoffs, because all the potential contenders already have 3 or 4 pretty decent pitchers.
That was tough to handle but Blum just won't cut it at SS on a regular basis. I imagine we'll be seeing a lot of Navarro there in the near future.
makes no sense that that was ruled an error. if you drill a scorching ground ball and it pops off a fielder's glove, it's a hit. just because that took only one bounce, it's ruled an error? silliness. but yeah, he's playing out of position anyway.
Yea, I wasn't so much putting that on him. I agree with you. Regardless, what was a 5 run lead is down to 3 with the tying run at the plate.
Broken bat single for Castro. He worked a full count and took a couple of close pitches for balls. Also took a nice looking cut at 2-1 but didn't make contact.
