lmao. what in the ****? did anyone just see that volkswagen commercial? the little kid just nails his grandpa in the crouch. what in the world is VW trying to sell with that???
Almost certainly the worst of the season. I almost puked. The entire infield and Pence hopped onto the fail bus.
lol, yeah I needed some comic relief after that 5th inning. solid stuff. it's a "punch bug" commercial, and the whole concept being that you punch someone when you see a VW. the little kid is holding his grandpa's hand... they're walking and see one and he promptly drills his grandpa in the nuts. I love DVR.
You realize the importance of defense when you see Johnson, Blum and Kepp manning third, short and second. Puma can join that list over the last couple of games even though he is typically pretty solid. Well, other than when he has to make an overhand throw. He does have a good glove and usually makes good decisions.
Kepp on Castro: “He’s got a pretty swing.” He really does and I've been impressed with his bat speed. Better than what I remembered from the last time I saw him. You can see the improvement in that area. Great poise and sound mechanics behind the plate and as a hitter. Good eye, good balance, fluid swing. I'm more optimistic about his potential by the day. If he ever develops even slighly plus power at this level, that would just be a bonus.
It's nice to see that the call ups have all shown the ability to take pitches and draw walks, something the Astros haven't had in a while.
Who has Myers bringing a better return in a trade then Oswalt? With his contract and the way he is pitching he has to be super valuable.
Because of the mutual option buyout on his contract, from the perspective of whomever trades for him, he is effectively making the same salary as Cliff Lee.
Problem is that a team that acquires Oswalt will use him as their #1 or #2 pitcher in the playoffs. As good as Myers has been, he's putting lots of people on base and isn't exactly reliable - they would be getting a good #3 or #4 type pitcher for their playoff run. While helpful, it doesn't provide as much benefit for the acquiring team because they don't get a playoff ace.
Myers just finished his 15 game where he has pitched as least 6 innings. His ERA is currently outstanding. He is pitching like a #2. A playoff team might have a better #2, but would see great value in adding Myers. He pitches deep into games, keeping the team in it and resting the bullpen. His salary is also reasonable. The Astros should be able to get prospects for him in a trade.
Looking at the box score, it appears that Pence hit another one of those monster shots to left center that he's been known to hit from time to time. I've yet to see the replay.
