One day, he will get a team that teaches him how to pitch. Provided he stays healthy, power arms are very valuable if you find a way to harness them. I guarantee you Dave Duncan and LaRussa would find a way to turn that 97mph straight fastball over the plate to a 92-93mph one with movement on the corner. Then, his breaking ball in the dirt becomes infinitely more valuable. One day, he'll learn how to pitch.... unfortunately, the Astros don't have the luxury of being able to teach him, or having him respond to whatever teaching they're doing.
Not Sat but sometime next week...Looks like Wandy will get to start Sat but with the off day coming they will just skip Paulino or whoever takes that spot.
I will ask this AGAIN...why is Jason Michaels on this team??? He contributes nothing not offensivly where he has hit under .200 all year long, not defensly where he has made a number of bad plays and while there aren't a ton of options on the farm why not give someone like Abercrombie a shot since he helped last season or Bogasevic to see if he can contribute?
Astros To Sign Roy Corcoran.... SPLASH!!!!!!... By Ben Nicholson-Smith [August 5, 2009 at 10:09am CST] Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times reports that the Astros will sign Roy Corcoran, who just became a free agent. The 29-year-old righty hit free agency after refusing an assignment to the Mariners' Triple A team. He allowed 25 hits in 19 innings with the Mariners and walked about three times as many batters (17) as he struck out (6). The Mariners designated Corcoran for assignment late last month. I think right now its worth a shot to see if he can regain his 08 form especially with Roy and Wandy's injuries along with Hampton and Paulino's issue. They probably figure they don't have a clue when the pen might have a long night so get as many arms as they can to brace themselves.
