"The Batting Stance Guy" on FSN just did a horrible version of Aaron Rowand. Looked nothing like Rowand's stance. Eschenfelder and Sparks were not impressed at all.
Michaels knew Bourne was backing him up and would have the better play on the ball once it got by him. I don't really find it shocking that he didn't run after it considering it took virtually no time for Bourne to get to it and throw it back in.
The mistake he made was not playing it safe and simply fielding the ball to hold the batter at first. By playing it the way he did, he allowed the tying run to get into scoring position. It was no big deal that the runner scored from first, rather than being at third.
The moron that thought it was a good idea needs to be shot. The guy doing it is an idiot and his stances look nothing like the player he's trying to imitate. That...and it's just a stupid thing to have to see during the game.
Of course. But once he played it wrong to begin with, nothing else would have been accomplished had he run after it.
"The Astros hoped to be able to turn to their ace Tuesday, but Roy Oswalt(notes) is still feeling pain from an irritated disk in his back. Houston has recalled Felipe Paulino(notes) (2-5, 7.04) to start in his place. Paulino made his last start in the majors July 3 against the Giants, giving up nine runs and nine hits in two innings of a 13-0 road loss. He followed that with a bad relief appearance before getting sent down." Great. Now we have 2 starting pitchers I wouldn't want on a little league team.
alysonfooter Wandy Rodriguez, who posted a perfect 4-0 record last month, has been voted National League Pitcher of the Month for July. Wandy is all grown up!!!
that is possibly gonna be the coolest news for us of the entire season. a guy that everyone lamented couldn't get consistent, couldn't blossom this late in his career, and wasn't a #2 in any sense (and had people saying that the thing we needed most was a "real" #2).. did all those things. He is rewarding the Astros for sticking with him the last few years. Here's hoping he can keep it up for years. Cy Wandy!!
The amazing thing is that he's not just a #2 - he's basically playing the role of a #1. And he's arguably been the best pitcher in baseball for most of the season. He had a 6 start stretch from May 30-June 26 where he claims he was tipping his pitches (I don't understand this - how does every team key in on it and know about it, but the Astros don't?) where he just truly stunk. Outside of that, he has an ERA of about 1.34 for the other 3 months.
alysonfooter Oswalt threw on flat ground and felt better. Will throw a 'pen Friday. Will not pitch Saturday. Next start TBD. Not good but not entirely bad that he feels better...I think they have an off day Thursday so probably just let it sit. I think they probably should DL him retroactive to Wensday that way they can get another arm up to help the pen.
Anyone know where I can watch the game online, besides MLB TV. Any links for the live feed, can't seem to find any... Sorry, out of town, and I have no interest in the Nats/Marlins game.
Definitely lacks control though. Spends the entire inning missing with his fastballs and by the time he locates, it's right over the plate.
