Geez MoBerg. At least it wasn't a K, looking. If you throw out Sampson's one bad start against Philadelphia (7 runs, 4 innings), his ERA is a glowing 2.25. Hopefully, the good guys will hold on to his 4th win.
I sometimes just don't agree with the lefty vs. righty move. Does Lamb not hit lefties above a .219 average? Hell, Woody Williams could probably focus better at the plate right now than Morgan. Kid is just lost.
Ensberg hits lefties better than Lamb, Scott, and Palmeiro for his career. Or his he "done" like Lidge was? I already said the club should explore trade options with Ensberg-Burke... but you're not going to get market value back for two guys who essentially aren't being used everyday.
I'd still prefer to see one of those bats at the plate vs. Morgan at this point anytime there is a runner in scoring position. Zero faith left in that guy.
Well, lucky for us you're not the manager... if Ensberg isn't batting in that situation when Loretta is starting, there's no point in him being on the roster. Now if you want to discuss the Lane-Scott fixed platoon, and why Lane hits above Pence in the lineup still, I'm game.
Yep, but if he's on the team, Gar has to use him. He was the only RH bat on the bench, outside of Q, and he was hitting over .300 vs. LHP. I believe he's now 1 for his last 25 with no walks. He's a waste of a roster spot as it stands. I'd love to see Bruntlett up.
Who friggin' knows? A change of scenery has energized many a career. As for Lidge, he's pitching absolutely great now in the middle innings without the immense pressure of pitching in the ninth, a runner on second, third, etc. and 1 out. Completely different ballgame. I'd like to see him get another chance at closing out victories, no doubt. He's a stand up guy who deserves atleast one more shot. I'm just not sure if my stomach can handle it.
Pence is going to be batting behind Lee really soon. He's already caught up to Lane/Scott for 3rd on the team in homers behind Lee and Berkman (and is now one behind Lance). He's actually leading the team in slugging ahead of Lee and Lamb BEFORE tonight's three hit performance. Quite the display. When this kid actually figures out how to approach hitting...wow.
As you said, lucky for "us I'm not the manager. I might do something CRAZY LIKE and agree with you on that thought or something and fix it.
Thankfully, Pence the last two nights and Lee last night don't know about that. That was a great piece of hitting there, going the opposite way. The ball does sound different coming off his bat.
JVG could take a lesson from Phil Garner and see how energizing rookies can make a difference. Sometimes they struggle early but once they figure it out....BOOM. DD
