Lowly? They have a better record than us against a much tougher division. I don't see them losing every game to the Pirates.
Woody Williams......how much are the Astros paying this guy? When he pitches I feel the chances of winning are about the same level as Tim Redding. DD
To be fair, Lamb hasn't been bad against lefties this year - he's actually 4 for 7, so it probably was a situation where the benefit of using Loretta there is just not very much. Lamb against a lefty is probably better than anyone on the bench against a righty. Though Loretta batting where Ensberg hit may have been a better bet given Ensberg's terribleness.
Where were you during his last 4 starts? Prior to today, he'd pitched 5 quality starts in 8 total starts, including the last 4 straight.
I agree... don't really have a problem with Lamb. I'm just saying if Garner is desperate to use Ensberg somewhere, it should have been against a lefty pitcher (who's insertion was pretty obvious given Bochy warming up a lefty all inning).
Yeah, the old quality starts stat....where it is ok to give up 4 runs in 7 innings..... Lower expectations I guess. 5.10 ERA now, Yea, he is doing GREAT. DD
He pitched well until one inning (Like redding) where the other team figures him out and POUNDS the ball. 1-6 after tonight...and you guys think he is doing ok.... MMMMMMMMMMKKKKKKKAAAAYYYY ! DD
The top of the lineup for the 'Stros is 0-12 tonight. Just imagine if we could have gotten a few runners on for Carlos.
Giants are 20-5 at MM park....probably 21-5 after tonight, that is PATHETIC... The Astros at home this year have been well below par....they need to protect that home turf. DD
So much for 1-6, eh? Yeah, I think he's doing exactly what the Astros expected - give them decent starts with a few blowups here and there. Over the course of the season, I expect a mid-to-upper 4's ERA, which is about what is expected of a #3 or #4 starter.
