You're being logical. It's easier to blame Barry. That a-hole doesn't sign autographs unlike, for example, Caminiti who took the time between doing lines of coke. RIP.

Yo, RM95, I have never met Barry Bonds, but I was greatly affected by him at Topps. He made my life a LIVING HELL at work with his ridiculous demands and constant changes. (Hey Barry, if you f***ing want all your photos to be of you smiling, make sure you smile at least once in real life, putz.) The company has had scores of big-name spokesmen over the years, from Shaq to A-Rod, each with their own demands and big egos; however, NONE of them can hold a candle to Bonds. The guy's in a completely different league. The company had to invent new business processes just to work with the guy. I mean, Christ, every one of his cards in every single product had to be tracked separately from the rest of the cards and even had different approval schedules. It was just ridiculous. By the end of my tenure (thank God for B-school), all I could think about was how satisfying it would be to choke the life out of Bonds' big, fat neck.

So, unlike all these other schmoes in this thread, I've got an actual reason to boo him. No prima donna is gonna make my life miserable... unless, of course, we're talking about my wife. :p

Remember the 'Rockhead Rule', Rocketman95 ... unless you post pictures of his intestines, no one is truly going to believe you can have your head shoved that far up Barry Bonds' ass.

Man, speaking of Rockhead...what happened to that guy? He was the guy who taught me the ways of PBP.

I am a big Giants fan, I have had season tickets for many years in SF. I try to watch every SF game that I can on Television. I've been watching Barry way back when he was on the Pirates, and welcomed him when he joined SF. Watching him play has made me believe that he is the best player to ever play the game. Why don't you guys see this? He's the most feared hitter in baseball. Why does he lead the league in walks every year? He's batting a little over .200 now and still he gets walked more than Albert Pujols (whom is on a tear this season). What does this tell you?

So I ask the question why do you guys hate Barry Bonds?

Is it because he could possibly the best to every play the game? Look at his stats, who else is in the 500/500 club, 713 HRs, 73 HRs, 7-Time MVP, not to mention 8 Gold Gloves? Not many.

Is it because he's arrogant? There are other superstars in the world today that get hated on because they are arrogant i.e. - Kobe Bryant

Is it because you wish you had him on your team? He's been killing the Astros for years now.

Is it because the media said so? The media hates Barry Bonds, because of his somewhat harsh personality. He doesn't give them the time of day. So of course they write crap about him in their articles. Reading every ESPN/Sportsline/MLB article makes you believe hey! I hate him to! These are the kind of people that believe everything they read in newspapers and make judgements. You haven't even met the guy what gives you the right to hate him?

Is it because of Jealousy? You could only wish to have someone of his caliber on your team.

It is because he didn't sign your baseball? Why should he? When he goes to your ballpark and gets booed why should he sign autographs?

The steroid issue is null (no one has ever caught him doing so, not even the steroids testing now). The book (game of shadows) was written to pour more mud on Barry Bonds name, not to mention make a few million dollars in the process from sales. I thought America was innocent until proven guilty. You guys should be enjoying what he is doing or about to do. This may never happen again in your lifetime. This is history in the making. Be proud that you were able to see it. And to think if he was a bit more kind and nicer to the media he could have been branded the next Babe Ruth. That's a shame.

Perhaps in the future when its all said and done you can go around telling your grand children hey I got to see Barry Bonds play he was one the greatest. Or maybe you can remember him as "that steroids user" who sucked.

Keep your head in the sand, it will help you sleep better at night.

But the reason that I dislike him so much is that HE CHEATED and is not man enough to admit it.

If he admitted it, I would be much more forgiving, same with Pete Rose.

Just to be clear, you're saying you have no opinions about any athlete, politician, or celebrity you haven't met? If that's not the case, what gives you the right to have that opinion, while we do not have the right to have one about Barry Bonds?

    Any evidence for this?

Hmm, you just made an accusation that the authors of the Game of Shadows book committed fraud and then you say this? Besides which, I didn't realize we were in a court of law. And to be clear again, are you saying you don't make any judgements about anyone or anything unless its proven in the legal system?

The fact that astros fans cheered when Bonds was thrown at was a classless act. If Giants fans cheered if Biggio was thrown at, this board would be up in flames. I mean christ, theres no freaking rivalry between the astros and giants, theres no hate between them. Cards and astros? i would understand.

And if bonds was on the astros, houston would love him.

I think the Astros just collectively have a mental block against San Fransisco... its really getting ridiculous.

    Another first-inning run allowed.

Bonds gets booed more vehemently in virtually every city... even places as benign as San Diego throws syringes at him.

If you think what Houston did was bad, don't even bother to realize what would have happened if he was beaned in Philly, NY, or Boston... or even St. Louis (where Bonds is hated more than the Devil).

Houston is still pretty naieve as a sports-town... and comparing Bonds to Biggio is VERY naieve on your part.

Bizarre (and possibly problematic) Ensberg stat: He has 29 RBIs and 13 HR's. Those HR's were hit in 12 different games, during which he combined for 26 RBI's. In his other 27 games, he has a total of 3 RBIs. With Berkman in front of him, it's not like he's never coming up with people on base.

    Very weird stat, Major.

Preston Wilson drives me nuts. I've never seen a guy take as many called strikes AND swing and miss as often as he does. It's downright unreal.

Anyone see the Berkman in the field during the pregame?

"Man, have you seen Pedro Feliz playing third--he's wearing an outfielder's glove. It's huge! It took the whole cow to make that thing."

Astros vs. Giants reminds me of Rockets vs. Sonics in the early 90's except the Sonics were good.

How is it that we can't beat the crappy west teams.....Colorado & SF in particular?

This team is REALLY REALLY struggling....19-9....going going gone.
