It seems so counterintuitive that the way to beat a team without its big men, is to play small and beat them on simple talent. Yet you look at how the Rockets consistently played against big by going small, which shows a shift in the NBA's meta-game these days. Glad McHale decided to match small-ball with more small ball and being better at it. I don't know the exact Xs and Os, but I'm glad it was successful.

Does anyone know what's wrong with McHale? I'm genuinely interested to know why he has been walking with that limp the past month or so. I feel bad for him because it seemed to have occurred after the passing of Sasha.

Any insight on if he's alright?

That's his natural pimp walk. A byproduct of years of pimping.

He has had that limp for years.

It goes back to injuries that occured during his playing days IIRC.

Hmmmm, I havent been keeping up with this thread so hadnt seen your vids explaining the plays, well done! You might consider actually writing a full length article with the vids attached and submitting it to Clutch for a place on the Official CF Blog (like Bima and moe's articles)

Starters came in slow, Mchale injected some energy off the bench quickly, someone Adelman was infamous for ignoring.

    He's a legit COTY candidate.

Can we change the title of the thread to "the official coach Mchale thread" or something like that? I have been ignoring this thread because of the title, but it appears there are some good comments and analysis bein posted in Here.

He played on a broken leg, thus, ending his playing days early. He will always have that limp.

We were running Lin-Douglas-Harden when we had the lead in the 4th and Lin was playing like garbage and Douglas was giving us a spark. McHale of course subs Parsons for Lin, and leaves Lin in there. McHale + Lin lost us this game. Not to mention some pretty ****ty refs.

I've been a McHale supporter, but I agree.

I have no idea what he was thinking tonight.

I didn't like how long Lin was out there after he was already playing crappy, but the team just didn't have it tonight. I wouldn't put this one on Mchale, hope he gets them to come out hot against Boston though.

i think lin was left out there for the defensive matchup with vasquez...

my only real gripe with mchale tonight was not taking a technical for the team regarding the officiating, which was just terrible beyond belief..

I don't have a problem with leaving Lin out there. But I thought we should have played through Harden more down the stretch. Lin had trouble generating good shots all game. Even if Harden isn't initiating, we need to find a way to make him a part of the offense on critical possessions.

I think McHale's biggest mistake was not resting the starters more last night. He doesn't seem to coach well on back to backs.

harden was driving and kicking out for 3's but our shooters couldn't connect. he was also driving and getting fouled but didn't get any calls. having greg smith underneath would have at least gotten us some 2nd chance possessions, imo.

I really don't understand the move of going small. Just because NO take Lopez out, it doesn't mean we have to match what they are doing. A big inside would put a lot more pressure when both Lin and Harden are driving. All those 3 pt shots that were missed, Asik would have gotten at least 2 of those rebounds and put back up. They were packing inside and just hoping we take the outside shot with both Delfino and Parsons being off today. Mchale has to have plan C, when Plan A (harden attack) and then Plan B (take 3's) is not working. NO adjusted at the end of 3rd, and Mchale didn't.

Does this coach set up plays?

Today though, he actually called some timeouts and instead of free styling it.
