^ what a terrible take. You do what you do is in your team's best interest, it has to be their job to get him to buy in.
Margaret Thatcher, Jimmy Page, John Candy. 3 names of the top of my head I would be VERY happy to replace Kevin McHale with.
This is the common response and it just blames the players and places no accountability on the HC. They have absolutely no direction on offense. It is so ridiculous.
We need a coach that can draw up plays that can make it easier for the players to score rather than all of this one-on-one nonsense.
Agreed. We should have kept him and given him some personnel powers like he wanted. I would love to have KMart and Bud on long expensive contracts instead of Harden and Howard. Sure, we wouldn't have won much, but dem backdoor basket cuts would be sooooo sweet!
^This. No matter how much sense this makes, people will still call you a hater for saying this. Being a fan does not mean that you blindly agree with the bad decisions that your team makes. I will always be a Rockets fan. No matter the coach, players, owners, cheerleaders I don't care I will always be passionate for this team. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to stay silent while this idiot coach is wasting Dwights prime and Harden's MVP play. So to all the people who keep trying to neg rep me for saying what I think about that idiot Mchale **** YOU! I'll never stop and get an effing life!
ADELMAN IS NOT A GM. I NEVER SAID I DIDN'T WANT HARDEN OR I WANT KMART AND BUD YOU IDIOT. This is the type of logical fail that starts arguments on this board. You think I don't want the Harden trade because I like Adelman?? That's you whole idiotic basis for responding to me? really?
Actually you're the one who made the leap of logic. It's well documented Adelman did not agree with Morey's say in coaching issues, but himself wanted say in the players we had. Well, Adelman got that in Minessotta. Who'd he get again? Oh yeah. Bud and K-mart. I'm not even defending McHale with that one. But the poster you responded to is absolutely correct.
Wow. Calm down, bud. It's just an internet message board. Name calling and all caps? You must be super serious. Adelman wanted more influence in player personnel, and that didn't work for us at the time because we were churning players through so that we could one day get a James Harden type player who might then influence a Dwight Howard type player to come sign here. It worked. We would only have been able to keep Adelman if we gave him significantly more say in player personnel, like he had in Minny. And that went terribly. So, even though I loved him as a coach (see below) I'm glad we let him go. It worked out for the best in the long run. I prefer Harden and crew to KMart and Bud. July 2012:
AGAIN ADELMAN IS NOT A GM. IF YOU THINK FOR A SECOND THAT ADELEMAN WOULD TAKE K MARTIN AND BUD OVER HARDEN AND HOWARD YOU ARE CRAZY. He took Martin and Bud because that is all thee **** he could get in Minnesota. Some of you guys really need some critical thinking classes in your life. Adelman when he had the players got us to the second round in his second year, what exactly has Mchale done?
Just because he wanted more influence doesnt mean you have to give to him. Think! second Adelman wanted to stay and having more player influence was not a requirement for him to stay. He made no demands on that. So taking the huge leap that we would not have Harden or Howard if we keep Adelman is ridiculous. ADELMAN IS NOT THE GM.
McHale sucks donkey balls. He may have the winningest record or close to it but that is in spite of this moron McHale and not because of him. He has the talent in the roster to do much more and yet no signs point to that thanks to his inept coaching. It's a disgrace to mention McHale as Rockets head coach in the same sentence with coaches like Rudy T, or Fitch or Chaney or Adelamn
Well you can believe whatever you want to believe, but at the fear of eliciting more caps and name-calling I'm going to post this:
From what I was told he backed off of wanting more influence and he just wanted to return. The subject was here on Clutchfans and it said that he ultimately left because the Rockets wanted him to train a successor not the personnel issues. At the end of the day if he truely wanted more influence then I see they let me go. But he is still a coach leagues ahead of Mchale which I know is something we can agree on. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=204189&page=4
The Rockets had decided they would choose Rick Adelman's successor even before the team and the coach had agreed to part ways. Adelman could have remained the Rockets' head coach, but was told that the Rockets had decided to hire his successor and put him on Adelman’s coaching staff if he remained, according to two individuals with knowledge of the talks. Though Adelman and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey came together on several issues, Morey wanted Adelman to mentor a successor that Morey and Rockets owner Leslie Alexander would have chosen and put on Adelman’s staff. Adelman was unwilling to make the changes necessary to his staff, arguing in favor of assistants. Adelman, 64, has long touted lead assistant Elston Turner as ready to lead a team, but the Rockets were not willing to designate Turner as Adelman’s successor, leading to Turner’s decision to turn down an offer to interview for the head coaching position. There were discussions about adding Rio Grande Valley Vipers coach Chris Finch to the Rockets staff, according to both persons familiar with the talks, but it is unclear if Finch would have been designated as the head coach in waiting. http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets...disagreed-over-coaching-successor-1686558.php
Yeah my article is dated one month after yours, so they agreed on everything but the succesor thing, it wasn't over personnel influence. April 2011 was yours mine was May 2011 both from Chron.
