Want a coach who take this team as far as it can go.
A team with the best sg and center shouldn't be losing in the first round, unless the players harden and Dwight just arent good enough

McHale is like Mack Brown, a good players coach, who relies heavily on his assistant coaches, more of a delegator CEO type.

Clearly he has assembled a staff this year that helps him a lot.

Coaching looking great so far this year. The memphis game was especially strong. Mchale really utilized the bench well for that game.

The only real disappointment this season is the loss to the LAL. And the last minute scratch by Howard shocked everyone. So I am somewhat good with it.

To true. Is there a better coach that never won a championship than Sloan? I cannot think of one. And he had HOF players. Playoff series are like rolling the dice. Two impossible last second shots can ruin your whole season.

I've despised McHale for years. But the transformation of our defense this year has given me new hope for him. I'm really impressed how quickly and thoroughly our whole team has changed its defensive intensity. I don't think that's just personnel. I think that's a directive and a commitment. I salute you, Big Horse.

Yeah. It surprised the crap out of me also. Short of pulling in Thib or JVG I did not think it possible. Amazing. And even with two of their best defensive players out (Howard and Bev) they have somehow kept it up. There are many things factoring into the transformation, and it is not only the coaching staff. Kudos all around.

Yeah, people around here act like assistant coaches have no function besides fetching basketballs. Assistant coaches exist for a reason: they assist with coaching.

    Mind = blown!

Let's make it simple: Spoelstra won two championships. You want him to coach the Rockets next year?

McHale is a good employee. I just don't like the orders he takes

Whatever. I'm happy with the win. We had a Ariza, Terry, and a bunch of D-leaguers at the end and we still won. Happy for Johnson.

So you just simply complaining but can't point to a coach who will surely not hold the team back..

Last year was the first year of h&h together
    Parsons had his own agenda
Lin was mediocre low ball iq with dumb turnovers
Asik was injured half of the year and injured all year
Pbev got injured in the playoffs
We had same record with Portland whose 2 superstars were in their 2nd year together
Aldridge had an insane first 2 games
And Lillard made an improbable shot

Is he holding this team back now?

i do see an improvement from last year.

    1) substitution choices appear to make sense where as last year they sometimes didn't.
    2) the defense obviously.
    3) offensive play calling seems to make more sense (posting up dmo and harden, more PnR and less iso)

I havent complained about anything. If Mchale can take this team as far as it can go then I have no problem with him. Doesnt matter to me who is coaching this team as I believe it utimately comes down to the players, but when the Coach begins to hold the team back, thats is when the problem arises

And the thing you listed are just excuses. Rockets blew mutiple leads that series. But was it Mchale or was is it the players just werent good enough? If the players we have arent good enough then it doesnt matter who is coaching this team in the end.

Im quick to rip on him, but seriously...Mchale (and his staff) have made leaps in defense; the teams new calling card. The team this year has bought in, and they are playing for each other out there.

Here's an example of how McHale has been improving even during the season. During the Lakers game he left Tarik Black in the game at the end. The team blew a lead and lost to the freaking Lakers.

Well, to McHale's credit he realized he needs to glue Black to the bench during the fourth and now plays D-Mo and Papa pretty much exclusively in the fourth. We have only lost one game since then.

That's a sign of a good coach. Learning from a mistake.

Also was totally impressed with 3 things he did in the final seconds of the game.
    1. Brought Black into the game to make sure to look for a rebound when DMo was shooting FT's just in case.

    2. Used Clint Capella, a long armed guy to guard the inbound pass, making it difficult to inbound the pass.

    3. Had Ariza help N. Johnson/ and eventually switch on to Wiggins.
