Nothing has changed from when I started this thread WAY WAY back. I saw the writing on the wall back then but yet McHale apologists are still in denial. You have two of the best players at their positions and yet you lose to inferior teams. That is a coaching issue. You need to be able to motivate the players and execute come end of game. McHale needs to go ASAP
No need to get pissed b/c of my post. You really shouldn't give me nor anyone the power to control your emotions. Take a break from this thread and come back another day. You are fighting a losing battle here. Just let others vent out their anger.
This graph is a clear proof that McHale's team is not well prepared and easy to be figured out on D. Opp. coaches find the holes in Rox D, which McHale could not really see or would not anticipate how they'd best exploit them. And the margin is so huge. In combination with the R&R excuse offense system, this supports the assessment that McHale is a bad coach and the team is winning purely on talent.
Can we get Calvin Murphy to coach? This team ain't improving at all. In fact, they're regressing. As a team, no mental toughness, no BBIQ.
I've said before many times that I do not think its a smart move to fire McHale midseason (and been falsely accused of being a McHale lover before) but I do think that if they have another loss to a sup bar opponent again this season (if it hasn't already happened yet, and I wouldn't be shocked if it has) I would be more than willing to bet that Les will call McHale into the principles office. Maybe not to fire him, or even to threaten him with his job, but as a little reminder that he can excuse a lot of things, but effort is not one of them. I've been following the Rockets since I was in diapers more than 30 (God I feel old) years ago, and since Les has owned this team I can tell you that games like tonight don't sit well with this owner…. and when they happen time and time again it has repercussions. Just so all the McHale haters out there know… even though you are all a bunch of crazies, don't think for a minute that Les and Morey are going to sit and allow losses like this to happen OVER and OVER and OVER again. Anyway… back to the mind numbing arguments about McHales lack play calling, racism, and love of Iso ball.
At least in the 04-05 season, the Rockets managed to acquire Jon Barry and Mike James during the year. Had it not been for having no power forward at all in the playoffs(all due respect to Flyin' Ryan Bowen), who knows what might've happened?
Lol I predict this thread will still be here in the 15-16 season. McHale isn't going anywhere. Talent alone can get this team to the second round of the playoffs, which will help McHale keep his job.
I think the easiest thing to do is just delete the last few pages so we can all just forget about this.
I honestly couldn't tell if he was joking or not, my bad. He's been calling me a nutjob and all kinds of things, I think he just pushed to far. Im logging out.
Let's be honest. The owner is not the most generous one. And he hired a low balling but good GM. The GM and Office hired a legend player as a coach but without deeper knowledge. If you add those things that are average but put together it stays average. And even below average because other teams have figured Morey out.
McHale was hired as the tank commander when we were rebuilding. We are over that phase now, time to move on.
exactly why this team can't expect to sit pat. The primes of the players might be out of the window before we know it due to injuries or w.e...
Mchale don’t know what to do under pressure. I have stop going to the games because it is hard to see these guys play without the right kind of leader. We really have some talent on ROC team from superstars to very talent rookies who just need the right kind of coach to sharp their skills. A great coach will know what talents he has and how to use them. Know how to match up players for each game, how to put await bad team early in game, and closeout 4th quarter. Good skills become great stills when a sharp coach can identify the weakness and make them better. Mchale is in the same place he was in last year and end up fighting for the eight spot in the play offs. Don’t know if we will make it this year. Hopfully talent will keep us in the play off. I know of at least 10 games this year which were winnable games. It’s how Mchale play his guys that lost them. We have a championship team with the right kind of coach I can see another championship. I am tired of waiting for 18 years to get another championship. I haven’t seen anyone like Rudy T. in a while. Hey maybe we need Rudy T back. Les should care about his fans and their opinions. I have nothing against Mchale he is just not a skill coach. Fans should count.
No… i've always been pretty consistent about my thoughts. I DO NOT think he should be fire right now. He should be evaluated this Summer when his contract is up and the organization is in a better position to make that change if a better coach AND FIT is available & hungry to coach this team. However, for those who just think that Les and Morey are kissing McHale's A$% and whispering sweet nothings to him right now, you are wrong. The people that are wrong are the ones who think the organization as a whole is totally ok with the way the team has performed against sub-par opponents. He will be held accountable, just in a different way than all the knee jerks here would like to handle things. My thoughts on him are pretty simple- -Is he a good NBA coach in comparison to most HOF level coaches… probably not -Is the surrounding coaching staff good enough to make up for what he doesn't have….. yes. -Do I believe in the system the coaches have in place…. yes -Do I believe that the front office and owner are competent enough to make changes to something that isn't working…. yes -Do I think firing him RIGHT NOW would potentially cause more damage than good… YES. They are still 9 games over .500. They aren't sinking low enough to pull a hail mary out just yet. However we are flirting with a "come to Jesus" talk here pretty soon if the team continues to stink this bad going into the last few months of the season when they should be getting better.
