we simply don't have the coaching to win close games, and that will be clearly evident in the playoffs
WTF is he doing keeping the starters on the bench?! Tonight's game is a firable offense. If the Rockets make the playoffs it will be despite McHale's terrible coaching. If I was Les I'd fire him tomorrow and promote Sampson for the rest of the season. I'm reminded of Moneyball when Art Howe refused to play Hattieberg. If McHale refuses to use the right players in the right manner then he needs to be fired so that someone who knows what they're doing will.
I don't like McHale -- I hated the hire, and I pine for the days of JVG. That said, watching the game, I completely agree with the decision to keep Beverly and Robinson in the game. Those guys were hustling and playing great defense, creating turnovers, grabbing loose balls, blocking shots. If it was not for those two, this game would have been much more lopsided.
Houston Rockets the WORST team amongst play-offs contenders in games decided by 8 points or less. 8 - 17. Statistics must be a LOF brah.
To be fair, it did work most of the time with our previous superstar #1. Harden just needs to get used to this role. It's too easy to defend him on the drive because he's pretty slow. Other than that, yes I fullheartedly support McHale being unemployed by the season's end (or playoffs). He's just not good enough of a 4th quarter coach and I don't think he's developing our bigs like we imagined he would do.
McHale played T Rob 28 minutes. That's shockingly high, and it shouldn't be overshadowed by the Lin drama.
Houston Rockets, youngest team in the NBA. I think that has a lot more to do with losing close games than the coaching.
Honestly I don't even care about Lin, why was Asik benched for the entire fourth when he got 12 pts and 15 rebs the first 3 quarters on 4-5 shooting? LOL wtf who does that?
I'm always confused after the Rockets call a T.O. and then proceed to run an ISO or a play that's botched up. I can't remember one time after McHale has called a TO when I've thought that was a great call.
We don't even run a real offense. We just push the tempo off rebounds and turnovers and run the pick and roll in the half-court set. What coach can't teach that? What we need is a coach willing to make adjustments and value getting stops on the other end of the floor. Asik was killing it the whole game on the glass and sat the last 7 minutes of the 4th quarter. Look, I've been a McHale supporter for a while now, but I really think we should cut our ties and hire a coach willing to make adjustments and work on the defensive side of the ball while maintaining this simple-to-learn yet effective offense.
Nice arbitrary stat. How many 130+ point games do they have vs other how many other play-off contenders have?
Haha remember the game the Rockets won but all anyone in the game thread did was complain because Beverly closed the game out? That was the worst win of the year. Conversely, this is the best loss of the year. All these fake Rockets fans mad at Coach not because the Rockets lost but because Jesus Lin didn't get to shine. What really sucks is longtime Rockets fans have a pretty good grip on Lin and Coach and I'm pretty sure Lin has thick enough skin to handle not playing the 2nd half of this game.
