Does anyone know what's up with the background for Wii on Gamespot's site? http://www.gamespot.com/wii/index.html
Wow, now that's some crazy stuff. I remember when I was younger I used to do that with a normal controller, haha. But now It'll actually work. Thanks for the info.
Actually, if I'm reading right...the Power Glove is closer to PS3's new controller than the revmote. Also, Nintendo didn't make the Power Glove. Nice try, though.
Indeed. Still wasn't made by Nintendo, though. Curious. Seeing as how you got into it with RC so much regarding Sony (not that you had to lighten up in those threads or anything), I'm surprised you aren't giving this thread hell.
Yeah, the more I think about it, I think I'm jumping off the PS3 bandwagon, at least for launch. I was considering $500, but now that it is more of r****d pack than the 360 r****d pack, there's no way I'd get that system. And I'm not going to go for a $600 console, plus whatever for a few games (maybe another controller depending on what games), plus tax. And that's assuming I'm lucky and not being forced into getting some $1000 bundle. That said, I'm not necessarily ready to get a 360 or Wii either, at least at this point (might change in the next 24 hours or so). The price announcement ruined the show, but the games for the PS3 were amazing IMO. I can't wait to play MGS4, FFXIII, Heavenly Sword...hell, even Afrika might be interesting. None of the games on the 360 have the same impact on me yet (except for Oblivion...but I got that covered). I might consider a Wii, but I've only been really interested in a few Nintendo games to be honest (although all of them are solid). Again, things may change in the next 24 hours, but I'll probably just be playing Oblivion on my PC until the Fall, when I'll be playing FFXII, Okami, Yakuza, etc. on my PS2 (assuming it doesn't die after the these ~6 years). Then maybe some GOW II love early next year, followed by some more Oblivion, but with newer mods. Plus some PSP love during that whole time period (Silent Hill: Original Sin, MGS, Final Fantasy:CC, PS1 nostalgia, GT:Vaporware Edition, etc.) Hopefully the PS3 will be a little more attractive at that point...or maybe even one of the other 2 consoles. Who knows. Basically, I probably won't be getting any next-gen console at launch...unless I sign up for every PS3/Wii giveaway there is. Ahah, victory is mine! Yeah, so I'm basically hoping that Sony's just trying to get in on some of the crazy eBay stuff that happened for the 360, and follow that up with a real price sometime in 2007. Yeah... I'm still confused as to why Sony gave out pricing information. Notice how we got to see Tekken 6, Virtua Fighter 5, FFXIII, MGS4, Heavenly Sword, and a bunch of other nice looking games (giving off positive energy, so to speak), yet everyone is talking about the price (and in a negative way). Unless they thought it was somehow going to get a positive reaction (WTF?), I would think it would have been smarter to hold off on the price information until TGS, or some other time closer to launch. Oh, and I realize that my thoughts were all over the place in this post. No sense of organization at all. That's what a $500 r****d pack and a $600 PS3 does to your brain.
blahh, it's video games, who cares? I give enough hell as it is. Plus it looks like he's seen the light ^
This is SamFisher as a teenager: Quote from The Wizard: "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad." IDENTITY CONFIRMED. Someone call Matt Drudge.
It looks like Gamespot has most of the videos from the conference available to download (including the whole conference itself, although I think you have to be a subscriber). I'm going to get some sleep so that I can make it for the Nintendo conference later today. I don't know if I'll have enough bandwidth left to stream both conferences though.
Sony's controller didn't steal from Nintendo's system. They stole it from a Gameboy game called Kirby's Tilt and Rumble. The technology's much inferior. At least they took a cue from Nintendo and made their online system free. Are you really that surprised? You've posted a lot of articles about its price before. Competing blu-ray players on par with the PS3 will be around this price or significantly higher... I bet the competition next Thanksgiving will get real ugly and benefit the prices for every gamer. Microsoft gave 3 billion to its gamers by selling the original Xbox cheaper. The stakes are too high for all three companies, so a bundle or price drop is definite. If you can wait and let that bad taste of the price run it's course, next year will do your wallet a favor.... There's no doubt that the PS3 is the most advanced system with the most potential. The 360's isn't a slouch with it's familiar technology, so perhaps Microsoft got the most bang for their buck... They thought their pretty games would justify the price point. If blu-ray and HDDVD had compromised on a single format, it would have been justified. So what's the price total for the parts inside Sony's system?
We'll probably find out later today, but rumor is it will be. They have been said to try to follow the DS model they've laid out, which is all free.
the big problem for ps3 is that its too good. not many people in the world own a TV that has 1080P output. Plus that's not the only thing you really need. you need a good sound system too. I've got my x360 on an old 1080i Toshiba with surround sound (properly calibrated). I'm pretty happy with it, but i still play my old Xbox because Halo2 and StreetFighter Collection are too fun online. Blue Ray is sweet, but you have to have a Sony SXRD TV to truely enjoy 1080p. also you can't tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p, unless you have a huge TV, 60inch plus.
So is this another victory for the HD DVD front? If PS3 sales are poor because of the price tag, BluRay might have an even harder time convincing people it is the best format.
WOW.. I haven’t got to check this thread since yesterday before I left for work... DAMN this thread took off like a rocket... My thoughts.. Wii is going to be a must buy for me at that price and with the back catalogue as cheap as it is... I like that Sony got rid of that horrible controller design and have decided to stick to what works best for them, but I would have expected a little more of a redesign of the controller just to smooth it out.. What good reason would Sony have to release the price of the PS3 when they haven’t even had the chance to have a solid E3 yet?? Really, what's a good reason for Sony to release the price this soon?? I think the price could overshadow ANYTHING good Sony does at E3 this year.. I think the price would have been justified with a solid launch lineup and all the features it has, but for $500.00 and only get a stripped down version of the PS3 isn’t going to cut it IMO.. I think Sony is getting caught with their pants down with the cost of BluRay and Microsoft is laughing at their expense.. Sony seems to be grabbing for straws with their system not coming out until a year after the 360, having a higher price, stealing Ns idea for the controller and having a stripped down version of the PS3 for $100.00 OVER the price of the top 360.. Sony needs to make some major noise during the rest of E3 to help stop the backlash against the price.. I think Sony CAN justify the price, but they need to play their cards right and highlight the right features of the console and show off the right PLAYABLE games, BUT I also think it might already be to late for that as crazy as that sounds.. To tell you the truth my biggest surprise isn’t the cost, but the idea that Sony has cut out the "rumble" feature out of their controller and has replaced it with the "tilt" thing How do you play a console game without the rumble feature anymore
