Sony's fall is inevitable. It happens to all of them. Will it happen this generation? Maybe. Certainly I think it will be damaged, and MS is hardly someone to take lightly. But all of them fall from the top spot eventually. How does it happen? Usually out of arrogance. Believing you can control the market and that any decision you make everyone else will simply adapt to. In fact, what I think was so jarring for me is that Sony right now reminds me a lot of Nintendo during the Nintendo64 era. Stubborn, on top of the world, making decisions that really don't make much sense when considering the public as a whole, trying to force your way on the public. They are leaving the door open and - much like what Sony did to Nintendo - MS is just waiting for the chance. Nintendo ruled the market for a long time, too. But it didn't help them when they started f**king up, either. lol.
Microsoft will never reach the top w/o the top tier Japanese developers backing them. Only people that think the 360 will be on top are arrogant American gamers who bleed made in USA. This generation, Sony will be on top because they have the superior system in terms of power (cell), technology (blu-ray) and third party support (square, konami, blah blah blah). Nintendo sells well because of Miyamoto. Xbox only sold because they have Halo (overrated imo). If Sony falls, they'll fall to Nintendo when Nintendo gets Square back in their camp.
SwoLy did you watch it? I have it on the DVR and plan on watching it later this weekend... Was it any good??
i think your over-generalizing about the 360's supporters being a bunch of arrogant "made in the usa" gamers. Where did you get that notion from? Just because it sells like crap in Japan? Believe it or not, price and value matter to people, gee what a concept?! in addition both systems are comparable (spec-wise), yes the ps3 has the blu-ray player, and if blu-ray format wins out, MS will make an addon. I'll probably end up getting a WII and a 360 or PS3. Most likely WII/360 combo. I buy for value, not for "made in usa, pride"...FYI ITS NOT MADE IN THE USA. I do agree, Halo sucks. now go make some *hitty movies, fanboy.
The tennis and golf games for the Wii look to be a blast, but the graphics are too juvenille. Hopefully they will make a Tiger Woods style golf game with more adult characters (same with the tennis) -- that would be reason enough to pick up the Wii.
What you talkin about, Willis? I'm just saying, just cause someone likes one thing doesn't mean you have to bash them.
shouldn't you be working out? its the offseason, and your on the bbs. no wonder your a shell of your formal self you have a max contract, go donate to the bbs instead of trolling..newb
Microsoft will be a hard sell in Japan. But you think the Japanese don't care something about value or would rather not get screwed? You know what Sony's price scheme is for Japan? Around 500 for the gimped system...then OPEN for the main one. Meaning, the retailers will set the price. If the gouging that happened for the DS is any indication, that could be a very, very bad thing. But you are right, the games are a big part of it. If Sony is flailing, then the developers will not stick with them. It's the same thing that happened to Nintendo. Already, MS has got a few decent Japanese developers to make 360 games. For the sake of argument, though, let's say you are right. The Japanese still love Nintendo. Just look what happened with the DS. It is likely they will more easily accept the Wii control system. So even if they do jump over to Nintendo...and then the west starts to focus more on MS....Sony could still have issues. I'm just saying, they won't stay on top forever. No one does. Fans didn't think Nintendo could fall either, back before the 64. I don't think Sony will just collapse and die like some people will tell you; they still have loyalists who will stick it out regardless. But they are suddenly making some interesting mistakes. I firmly believe they will still have a big marketshare, but they will no longer dominate in this generation as in last. I don't think Sony will simply fail this generation. Of course, I also didn't think they'd try and push a $600 system so...
So, is the final price on the PS3 $499 and $599? Also, when the PS3 is released or as the release date nears does Microsoft plan to do any price cutting to attract possible consumers to the XBOX 360. I want to get a 360 but I don't want to spend the amount of money they are asking.
How was I trolling? Forget it, I won't sink to your level. Just cause I took the opportunity of joining for free I'm "newb". Genius!
I guess if anyone is curious, I believe I saw some prices for that system in Japan. IIRC, it was around $685 or so, although it being an open price, I'm guessing that could change as time goes on (maybe closer to launch). I haven't had a chance to read much about the Japanese reactions to the pricing, although I did read one article about someone who still planned to buy one for sure. Of course, they originally wanted to buy two, so the price probably didn't effect them that much (just buying one instead of two). I think in that same article, a Japanese analyst noted that the Xbox 360's graphics were on the same level of last-generation systems. Oh boy... I wouldn't expect a revised price. I wouldn't put it out of the question since it has been done before (N64 from $250-->$200 a few weeks before launch), but I doubt Sony would change the price. Although who knows what will happen if there is a big enough uproar about it. The PS3 will be released November 17th in NA. I suppose MS could cut the price of the 360, although it wouldn't be necessary. FWIW, Peter Moore said the 360 received a price cut on Monday (when the PS3's price was announced).
Care to explain why the 360 will dominate this generations console war? I bet you cant. I know a person who had their carpet catch on fire because their 360 overheated. MS has currently fixed the overheating issues. I know some people who had to return their 360's at least twice because it stopped working. Weak third party support Weak graphics $100 wifi add on? $150-$200 hd-dvd add on? Plus you can't use both of them at the same time, its either one or the other. Im sure if I did some research I could dig up more reasons why the 360 will be last this generation.
