I'm not too high on Noah, he's had an unbelievable showing at the tourney so far. Really reminds me of Anderson Vareujao (sp?) and not just because of the hair, the guy is unbelievably skinny and when you're a 225lb big man, you're gonna be foul prone.

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but, do the Rockets have their first round pick this year, and is Demarcus Aldridge entering the draft. I know he is only a sophmore?

Yes the rockets have their first round pick this year. LeMarcus Aldridge has not made an offcial decision to enter the draft. The last day to enter is April 29th. The last day to withdraw is June 19th. and the draft is June 28th.

Aldridge has said he is going back to school, but with him being a top 5 pick he will probably come out, espeically since he has less of a chance of making the top pick next year with Greg Oden out there.

Speaking of the draft Golden State and Chicago both moved past us in the standings.

    The teams below us.

    Minnesota 1 game back
    Boston 1.5 games back
    Seattle 1.5 games back
    Orlando 3 games back
    Toronto 4 games back

I'm pretty sure Minny, Boston and Seattle will all finish with better records than us which would put us @ the 7 pick in the draft.

but knowing joakim, there is a chance that he wont declare until he graduates (his dad is pretty strict on that)... however i still think if he declares this yr and if we get a higher lottery pick, there is still a chance for us drafting him (some teams who are in need of a big man would rather pick aldridge/thomas over him) due to his skinny built. ps if we get to draft him we can trade swift/howard and get a decent backup point or a starting 2 guard... but right now we should just hope for a higher lottery pick and see who else is available then...

With the #7 pick plus the LOTTERY ... ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN like 02'

We can always trade the 1st rd pick(top 10)/ 2nd rd pick (from NY possible 1st/2nd pick in 2rd) for maybe a top 3 pick?

    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Rudy Gay
    Adam Morrison
    Tyrus Thomas
    Joakim Noah

i guess as it stands right now lamarcus might not come out. from what i've heard here in austin it sounds like he is 60/40 at best for leaving to the NBA. he has even talked about staying all 4 years because he wants his degree. either way that poor offensive showing last game didn't help out his draft stock, and unless he is guaranteed top 3 pick then i've heard he is staying in the NCAA.

please before you talk about trading a 2nd rounder and a 1st to move up in the draft remember this is not the NFL. please find a prior instance of this trade happening before you mention it.

That is an impossiblilty, the only way we move up in the draft is trading either a player or an exemption

9th is not bad. Last time Rox had the 7th pick (actually traded for it), Rox picked EG who turned out to be a bust.

I think Aldrige is a fool if he doesn't come out this year. He certainly won't be able to be the number one over-all pick next year because Greg Oden will be taking that spot, and the year after that it's likely to be Oj Mayo. I think if you're slated to be a top 5 pick in this draft, you HAVE to come out. You won't get a better oppurtunity. And as for his degree, it isn't like he can't take classes over the off-season throughout the duration of his career or return to school when he retires. He'll certainly be able to afford it.

i do not believe joakim can turn into a tayshaun type player.... i would say he would become more like a kevin garnett type of player... he has extremely long arms, passes/dribbles well for a big man and is amazing on the glass... i mean we went to highschool together and he dominated the 2 games we played vs st. benedicts (who had JR smith and glando who played at kansas last yr) and even had some good D on JR... a lotta ppl dont think he'll be any good, but if he keeps developing his game, i wont be surprised if he becomes the next garnett.

Agreed. I don't see why guys stay if they are guarenteed to be a top pick, assumin most feel they are ready for the next level. I guess I can understand wanting to win a national title.

What kills me is all the flack guys get for not wanting to turn down guarenteed millions, as if they could never afford to pay for classes on their own after they are drafted. Give me $3M right not and you can have both of my degrees.

That's a pretty bold statement. I'm not saying he won't be, but saying he'll be the next KG are pretty big shoes to fill.

size and athletic wise they are similar but skill wise they are nowhere close. you are forgetting KG's ability to stroke the mid range jumper, handle, and pass.

noah is a very promising and intriguing prospect, but he's got a very long way to go before the KG comparisons start forming.

Why does Nbadraft.net compare Noah to Jeff Foster?

    http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/joakimnoah.asp

Methinks he is more along the lines of a Hakim Warrick or maybe even Marcus Camby (without a jumb shot and minus the injuries), Birdman type player.

I would be surprised if he gets anywhere close to KG regardless of his workethic.

I would too, but the guy claiming Noah could be KG like actually went to highschool with Noah and I think that really skews your opinion of a players abilities. I went to highschool with a guy named Clayton Shields. He was the Houston Area Player of the Year (or whatever that award is) and he went on to play at University of New Mexico. After watching him in highschool, I was convinced he was going to be the next MJ. He did EVERYTHING. He would just single-handedly dominate every team he played - but then he went to college. At New Mexico, he played third fiddle behind Kenny Thomas and some other guy whose name I forget. I have no idea what even happened to Clayton Shields, but needless to say, he did not emerge as the next MJ.
