I was there. It was my worst nightmare. It is easily likely my last Draft Party at Toyota CEneter ever. The food line was way to long and not moving. That would have been bearable and forgiven if I did not get back to my sit and find out that Rudy has been traded.

I was at the food line when the trade made - first I heard cheer then a few moments later I heard boos. My heart skipped a bit and I could not wait to find out what the boos were for.....the rest is history :( :( :( :(

I was so excited to watch this draft because the Rockets had such a high pic and now i'm not even watching it. What a major disappointment. The rockets were trying to be to cute by half and ended up screwing themselves.

It must not have been that good of a surprise or did everyone leave before it?

    that "was" the surprise...

I don't think this could be that bad for the Rockets though.. Battier seems like he would fit the need of the Rockets pretty well.. decent D. and shoots the 3 at a .381 clip for his career.. It will probably take a year before we can see what Rudy Gay could do adjusting to NBA ball.. We have scorers in Tmac and Yao.. so we don't really need prolific scorers.. we just need someone to hit a damn wide open shot every once in a while.

WTF! I thought this draft party was pretty good. Granted we didn't get the players we wanted but we did score a strong, hustle-playing, garbage, role-playing 4 and we got Steve Novak.

I spoke with some Rockets reps and staff members and rest assured the Rockets are not done with trade moves. The draft was just a precursor of Great moves to come. Please do not bag on the Rockets too much. July is going to be a helluv a month in terms of player personnel changes. Just wait until then to judge the team!

I am excited to hear that Jeff Van Gundy bought 30 full-season ticketes and that there will be an audition to give them away.... I can't wait.

So the surprise really was trading down in the draft?

Stayed the whole time. Van Gundy did annouce in the beginning that he had 50 tickets, 30 season tickets and they would give it to the rowdiest fans. The place went wild. Rafer and Worrel spoke on stage the whole time. I thought they didnt show enough ESPN and talked a lil too much. I got autographs and pics of Chucky, Juwan, and Calvin. I got pics with Clutch, the 2 championship trophys, and Rafer. I thought it was fun in the beginning but the trade just ruined the night. People booed then left. I stayed to see if i could win some of van gundy's tickets because hardly anyone was left in the audience but I only saw hats and shirts given away.
