"heat of the moment" is the precise reason why the taunting penalty exists. There aren't many "taunts" that aren't in the "heat of the moment." The fact that he didn't recognize Green was still on the ground motionless a good 5 seconds after he was hit is pretty DUMB on his part.
I understand that... heat of the moment and all that... It still cost the Team. To try to justify what happened is to say his emotions are above the Team's goals. After last week, there is no doubt one of their goals is to not commit stupid penalties. Especially when the opposing offense's drive is being stalled.
That's a load of crap. Celebrating and taunting happens all the time - not anywhere close to the extent that he did it. And not to a player on the ground not moving. If there was ever a textbook example of taunting, that was it. I dare you to find a single play in the rest of this game anywhere remotely similar to what TJ did. Right. Of course - like everything else bad that happens to your teams, it's all the ref's fault.
Actually it's pretty darn straight forward. You celebrate and direct it toward an opposing player, that's taunting. You do it toward the Crowd... that's a whole other story.
Not too impressed with the Texans offensive game plan thus far... looks like the Dolphins are the hungrier team.
Yes he does, these concussions end up affecting your brain function later on in life. These guys go into serious depressions and cant get right. Trent has had far too many close calls. I can just as easily see that play ending up with two ruined careers if that had been TJ's plant let hitting Trent's head. Dude's knee would have been completely blown out, too. No wonder he was pissed.
Pointing is going to cost you a penalty every time. Yelling and celebrating after a good play is one thing. But if you stand over a player and point at them, that taunting. It no different that, say, Mutombo getting a technical if he waives his finger in someones face, but not getting a T if he waives his finger to the crowd.
There's the problem -- the "not to a player on the ground not moving." I didn't realize the definition of penalties was subject on the condition of the opposing player. Can you show me that in the rulebook? And for that matter, how many players in the NFL stay down for a few seconds to collect themselves? It was a dirty block from Green and a good play from the Texans defense. In the heat of the moment, before understanding everything that was going on, he rubbed it in. Part of the game. Everything else? Care to share examples, or are you talking out of your ass?
Looks like he was trying to avoid getting hurt, really.. "duck and cover" but man, that knee went straight into his temple.. at full speed
Rubbed it in? I'm guessing he was yelling at him about how dirty a block that was and how they should throw a flag on him.
