If you watch the replay, and know what to look for (a motionless Green, and a furious TJ), you'll soon realize it wasn't simply "kneejerk" They just showed a replay... looks even more asinine.
Completely disagree. What Johnson did was over the top, but part of the game and usually not a penalty (especially when the block was somewhat questionable)... unless it's an NFL quarterback. Then the rules change.
I dont blame TJ. He went after his knees no problem show some emotion its football. Now hes running aroun with no helment. Good for him
C'mon, it's in the heat of the moment. Green chopped him pretty low. Even if Green was not hurt that bad, TJ would have taunted.
If you go to a player 10 feet away who just blocked you, stand over him while he's on the ground, point both hands at him, yell, and gesture at him in front of a ref, you're going to get flagged for taunting. In the NFL. In college. If it's a QB or anyone else.
I saw the replay, but I realize that Johnson is not watching the game at home and is on the field and moments earlier had his legs taking out from under him. What he did wasn't right, obviously, but everyone can react stupidly in the heat of the moment...
I was going to post the idiotic Dolphins will realize that they shouldn't have drafted Ginn, but Lemon moved the ball and they scored.
Are you kidding me? That scenario happens dozens of times in every football game that I've ever watched in my life. Pointing and yelling after making a good play is part of defense... it's called intimidation. If that's the criteria for taunting, most teams would have 100+ yards of penalties in every game. In any event, that idiotic call gave the Dolphins 7 points.
Bingo. It had very little to do with the act... everything to do with one of the league's glamour boy QBs appearing injured and the official looking for someone to blame in the heat of the moment.
