Ryans has been unbelievable for us, he's been really consistent for us and rarely makes mistakes. I don't know how many rookie LBs could have stepped into MLB with as bad as our defense has been and produce like he has.

I just posted this in the Mario thread... It makes me mad that the announcers missed it. From the replay on the alternate angle (behind the Ronnie Brown), it looked like Booker had a good chance to catch the ball, but Mario caused it to go over Bookers' head by tipping it.

I looked in the NFL Gamebook (final stats for the game), and they didn't credit Mario with a pass defense :(

Ok, well even 610 said Greenwood. Nonetheless, huge play in the game and Mario did good, got it done. Congrats! :D Very pleased to see the Texans play more like a team today. Maybe this is something to build on. Dallas will be tough but may Mario can make Drew's day miserable causing a possible victory? Hope so and finally Mario gets some good publicity for once. ;) :D Good job Texans getting off the schneid! :D :D :) :)

Winning definitely cures all ills. :D

D-line played a lot better today. Mario came close on a couple of more sacks. Secondary still looks like crap. Robinson looked more like P. Buchanon out there today with missed tackles, bad coverage, etc.

The commentators made a really good point about our defense. They talked about the missed tackles and how the Dolphins were making at least 1 defender miss for extra yardage.

I have complained about the secondary a lot this season, but they really do miss a lot of tackles. RBs and WRs are able to gain 2-3 yards at a minimum after contact, if we want to be a good defense, we have to get better tacklers.

But a win is a win, hopefully this team will continue to improve.

I'm not sure why Mario was only given 1/2 sack. Culpepper was on the ground and Mario clearly touched him before Ryans did...

Exactly. I get the feeling that if he threw the ball downfield a lot, people would be clamouring for him to dump it off for safer passes. The guy just cannot win with fans.

We really needed this win... Mario gets 1.5 sacks before Bush gets any TDs... awesome. People on this board are still complaining about Carr, who was responsible for both of our TDs. That's unbelievable. You've just got it stuck in your heads that he sucks. And you're going down with the ship. Well, go ahead then. What I see is a player that Kubiak is molding into a pretty good QB.

And twoface, you're ridiculous, too, with your moronic signature posting "great game texans." Ha Ha.

So I'll say it, "Great game Texans!!!!!!!!!" *

    * - Any win is great when you're 0-3.

But Ryans was the guy who knocked Culpepper on the ground in the first place, it wouldn't be fair not to credit Ryans.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I can't recall ever seeing an example of this.

Here is the section from the NFL Rulebook, and it does not explain how the kicking team can get the ball without gaining possession of it within the field of play. It seems that they need to restate Rule #6 from the kicking team's perspective.

Maybe this isn't the official detailed rulebook... Does anyone know?

Just to clarify... I was talking about the second sack (I'm not sure which one you were referring to). I went back and watched it again, and it was Weaver who brought Culpepper down by the ankle/calf, and to be honest, Weaver should have gotten credit for the full sack, seeing as Mario/Ryans didn't touch Culpepper until after he was on the ground.

I'm still glad they gave half to Mario though :)

Good stuff, Swoly. Could you show the one where Mario got his first sack. That would be cool. Thanks. :D

When I made the comment he had been dumping it short, and you can throw short to your WRs too.

However, I tip my hat to Carr today, I thought he played very well, and the offensive line started to give him some time.

Houston deserved the win today, they outplayed the Dolphins.

have to hand it to you, DaDa. Pretty solid prediction on the stats, Moulds got a few more yards than you predict but we'll give you the mulligan on that one. :D

Most importantly, the stat that really matters changed, we got a W!

Still scratch my head a little about not trying to at least get a FG at the end of the first half. Oh well, the strategy worked this time because this team, Miami is not very good. Another time, another team dont count on it.
