A's had been skating on thin ice winning close games, they lost another one tonight. Still 1 game behind, so we can forget this Dodgers game.
Mariners hang onto win with A's threatening in the 9th with 2 outs. Also Haniger made game tying catch in the 8th. But although it's good that the A,'s lost, the Mariners are catching up to the Astros.
I think Zack Greinke should be traded for a CF, C, Bullpen help. Zack Greinke value is really high. The Astros have so many weaknesses on the team. I don't believe the Astros can contend with so many holes on the team.
1. Dusty needs to STFU and stop making ****ing excuses for his bullpen. 2. The lineup needs to wake up 3. Profit.
Astros starting rotation is 9th in innings pitched. While the Astros bullpen isn't great, it is his job not to run it into the ground. He's got to use long relievers to fill some innings to protect the higher leverage guys. Sure, short term there might be a loss with Bielak, Emanuel (hope he's okay) on the mound for 2-3 innings, but using guys for 1 inning or less repeatedly will kill a bullpen with the way starters are used today. If Abreu is going to be used like a long reliever, he needs to get the rest of a long reliever. Dusty appears to get that the way he is using the bullpen is unsustainable by that tweet, but seems completely lost on how other teams have mitigated the problem of starters pitching less. On mixing and matching, that can be done if bullpen is rested, but rested pitchers generally perform better than tired pitchers unless there is a huge gap in talent.
