Here's what we need to do. Hit a homerun, trot around the bases, and the homerun boy flicks his helmet off like Jeff Kent did when he won that Astro playoff game. I think Berk should do it.

Having to replace an injured player & an ejected player didn't help, ya know.

First of all if you don't think Lidge deserves criticism, then I think you are delusional. Its not only that he's blown 2 saves, but he has been below average in most of his outings this year, and I don't know any team that is going to give a pass to the closer that has performed this poorly. Yes he has a lot of saves, but if you watch the games, virtually every save was a sub-par outing for Lidge or any relief pitcher for that matter. I can deal with him getting hit, but I cannot deal with the number of walks he has been giving up.

I'm not saying he should be replaced now, but if we watch this cotinue over the next couple weeks, then a move is going to have to be made. If that makes me a "bandwagon" fan in some eyes, I don't care. I've been around watching virtually every game for the past 15 years so I know where I stand.

Willie needs to go 90 feet.

Come on Morgan......just one off the scoreboard is all we need.

I think he deserves more time than that. He's earned it. Maybe a move to setup for a bit IF this continues for another 2 weeks in a really bad way with no signs of improvement...though i'd still give him another 2 weeks probably.

--go willy on beating furcal of all arms! they're "pitching out"..yeah, it's just an IBB

i know...just funny and rare to see a team go into extra innings with nobody but their worst reliever left on the bench.

rarer to see both teams through all position players and all but 3 pitchers in the middle of the 10th inning..

Thats exactly what I meant ... I said I'd give him a couple weeks as well. I just get the feeling that some people think if you even think about potentially moving Lidge to the setup role at some point you are not a real fan.

Anyways ... Lets hope Mo can make this game turn into a sweet W!!

Has Grady Little re-lost his mind? Essentially intentionally walking the potential winning run into scoring position?

Whatever happened to Willy stealing a base?

With wheels like that, why not turn them loose, try to shake the tree a bit?

The Dodgers catchers have had major trouble throwing guys out this year.

This game is just one Astacio pitch away from another gut wrenching loss.

Of course Lidge deserves criticism, but a lot of people here are getting hysterical. Saying Lidge's career is finished, or playing amateur psychologist to diagnose all of his supposed mental problems (their HDTV must be *incredible*) is silly. What you are advocating sounds reasonable to me, so don't take my post as a shot at you. Criticism is fine, but the gloom and doom whining about Lidge recently seems very...Cubs fan to me. Nobody wants to act like that!

That's right. Terrible Decision. Wheeler was solid out on the mound and would have no trouble working another inning. Lidge on the other hand, is probably the last guy I would want on the mound right now (well, aside from Gallo and even then there is still room for debate).

Jason Lane was a pitcher before. He could come in and throw an inning. :)

we're 20 games into the season. you don't extend Wheeler a day after he already pitched when you have lidge sitting there, ready to go (and wanting redemption). Yeah it looks great in hindsight, but come on.. calling it a "terrible" decision is ridiculous. Even calling it a bad move is pretty dumb, imo
