Dude... I invented lights out lidge, so u know where I'm comin from as a fan.

I just want to avoid the impending wrath that will take over if it happens... I'm not going to sit here and defend him, or make excuses, or read over and over how Pujols ruined him for life... its just too much drama after games like that.

Likewise, if he knocks it down, and comes thru... i'm not going to say "see, look what happened."

I'm just looking for improvement in his control... a little bite on his slider... and a quick inning.

It will be 9-1-2... not easy, but easier than 1-2-3 he faced yesterday. Or, the Stros could just blow it open in the 8th (I wouldn't be against that either).

Man I love Wheeler. What a great addition to this ball club. He became one of my favorite current Astros the day he hit one of the Cubbies in the series last season. (IIRC, it was the one with OSwalt and Barret's confrontation....or the next agme after it). I remember one of our players got hit and then Wheeler came in to pitch and beaned the guy.

If he cuts down on his walks, he would be MUCH more effective......I don't know why he hasn't been able to throw his slider for strikes, that would be a HUGE lift to him.

I still want him out there in the 9th though.

You know, this is the best scenario we could hope for to settle Lidge down. It's not something *I* was necessarily looking forward to after the heartburn of yesterday, but it's good for Brad. Even if he gets shelled, or is wild then maybe they will think about taking more drastic measures.

Probably because in the AL, those balls are in the seats before you know it... it really is a different brand of baseball.

Yea... even if he gets the save... if his control is still off, and he's relying on game-saving double plays to get out of a messy inning, they know they'll have to work on something.

The good news is that when one guy struggles, the others seem to rally round that and pitch their hearts out... namely Qualls and Wheels.

OKay, it's up to brad lidge. Shove it in ESPN's face Lidge! Please don't repeat. I avoided newspapers and sports channels today because of what happened last night.

Make me want to check the sports sections again. GO STROS!

i definitely want him out there too. i agree--i hope he can cut down on the walks. mix up the slider/fb combo and get em both in the zone if possible if the control isn't there...just stay away from the walks..

Oh, i'm faithful... I'm willing to make a BBS sacrafice to the gods to get Lidge straightened out... that's essentially what I'll be doing if something happens.
