I was a Dillon hater prior to his Rocket's stint. While he was here he played his role and didn't do too much extra. I ended up liking him. Thank you Dillon. P.S. I will quickly go back to hating you once I watch you against us. Nothing personal though .
Love Dillon. He gets such a bad rep, amazing teammate from what we all saw. No hate against Dillon ever.
For those that watched the game, you know Dillon Brooks was more than a 3-D guy. He was a culture setter. A culture based on team first mindset, individual sacrifice, accountability, relentlessness, and professionalism. His defense effectiveness doesn't show up on stat sheet. His willingness to guard the other team's best player knowing that he is undersized or too slow but it's what the team need is what makes him a winner everywhere he's been. He will be sorely missed. Hopefully Tari is ready to fill those shoes.
Even though I always hated Brooks' game I have to admit that he was never overpaid. At the time, many complained about his salary but it never stopped up from signing anyone we wanted to sign and when the time came, he was valuable salary filler that helped us trade for a max salary star. I've been saying this for a while now but short contracts can never be bad contracts. They're just future filler. Same applies to FVV. Same applies to Jock even though he's pretty worthless as an actual player. Always need salaries for trades.
I thought Brooks was overpaid when he was signed and said so, but boy, was I wrong. I'll miss Marshall Dillon. Attitude! I'll miss them both.
Prime example of someone's rep being ruined by social media and echo chambers. Unjustly hated by nearly everyone that hasn't had him on their team or can't see past the narratives (I was one of these people). I hated the signing like everyone else and ended up with nothing but respect for him in the end. Tells you a lot about his character. I am sad to see him go, but it is the right move for us. His effort was always there, but he was beginning to slip up more and more as a perimeter defender. Cost us a few games with silly fouls at the end as well. Defensively, Tari and Amen will more than make up for his departure and the core will benefit greatly from the minutes freed up now.
