Yep Except that if Carter was doing what his career numbers say he would do, then we would be fine But other than that, yep
Pitching staff is at 12, but if we add Fiers and move VV out, it would stay at 12 They have kept 13 most of the year, and if there was an obvious guy to move out on offense, i'd guess they keep 13 again and make that move, especially with Lowrie and his versatility back in there. Sure doesn't seem like they want to really use VV out of the pen though
Yeah.... every team usually has a stretch where the pen seems "overworked"... actually surprised that this is the first time all year it seems that way for this team, and we're nearly 75% into the season. Despite allowing runners to get on in his second inning (partially not his fault due to the error in CF), Qualls looks much improved after the pain injection. Fields seems to have weathered the rough patch he was in previously. Sipp is still struggling in terms of not allowing baserunners and getting lefties out (although his ERA not really reflecting that). I believe he's the only lefty in the pen right now, so I guess he still has that role locked down. VV just needs to continue to work on his stuff... and unless one of the right-handed guys gets hurt or starts struggling mightily, I don't see him being a clear-cut replacement. I also could see them putting Fiers in the rotation to start monday, but keeping everybody else on schedule (just one day pushed back). Gives them all a little more rest, and keeps McCullers fresh as well.
Random question. If i make it to Sundays game like 50 minutes late. Can I find tickets on the side for a cheaper rate? Since I'm missing a few innings.
Lol, nowhere did I say that. His only good season out of how many seasons? 1.6 or so.. (his 28 innings or whatever before getting here and adjusting he mechanics--and more importantly becoming a full-time starter--not withstanding) All I said was consider last season too. If you have 1.6 seasons of data, it's silly to say "the first 1 doesn't count...only look at the most recent 0.6. But the even more recent 0.25 is irrelevant. Only 0.6 seasons."
I'll be highly disappointed if we moved prospects to win now And we don't keep Keuchel and Kazmir on a regular rotation. Please do not push those two back, so we can limit McCullers innings
Random vent. I just recently moved to SA and wanted to add extra innings to watch the Astros since I don't get root. Well the games are still blacked out here!!!!!! Apparently directtv carries root in SA but I can't get them where I am!!!!!! Rant over.
Astros forum is filling up like the stadium Does "on the side" mean black market? Admission is free if you can successfully sneak in I'm glad McHugh is trending upward and Robbie downward. That sucks Are you getting Rangers games? Hated seeing them on FSSW at restaurants when Houston was feuding with Comcast.

Ugghh Would rather Castro in there with Keuchel. Probably won't need a ton of offense to win, but don't need the poor defense. Plus, Castro HR last two nights. As for Fiers, probably not a big deal, but he sure doesn't seem to excited about getting here and being a part of what we have going on. Hoping for a big night from Gomez tonight
In Angels news, CJ Wilson may be out for the year. Surgery for the bone spurs in his elbow that he's been pitching through most of the year. Stats are essentially identical for him pitching to either (hard to blame a 40-point difference in babip on the catcher). If Conger has to catch any of the starters, I'd rather it be Keuchel, he can pretty much shut down the opponent's running game by himself and AZ really likes to run (2nd in MLB with 91 SB) http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=keuchda01&year=2015&t=p#catch::none
Yea, Keuchel is a beast in pretty much every way, including the running game But Arizona is second in baseball in SB's, and Conger seems to be in a massive defensive slump right now. Just saying i'd rather the better current defender in there, would hate to have defense cost us a run or two
I'd rather Conger not be on the team (unless you wanted to carry 3 catchers), but alas, here we are. I did say "if" he has to start.... One of the very few, if only, moves by Luhnow that I just don't understand. He's been terrible at the plate too his whole career, so it's not like anybody expected his success this year.
Those two words should never be put together. Whenever your offense or bat doesnt show up, you can always rely on defense. Congers defense is just horrible and his former team(angels) knew it and ran on him every chance they got.
