The problem is that if the bullpen is expected to shoulder 4 or 5 innings every night, before long you won't have a bullpen left. This happened to us earlier this season.

we had no shot of winning anyway let Backe stay in to send him a message that he needs to work on his pitching a lot harder.

Anyone watching Biggio's jersey retirement ceremony? Billy Doran looks ridiculously young. He's 50 and could pass for 30.

Babe Wiggy!! Who knew the Astros were wasting an all-star leftfielder by making him play third?

I believe they said Biggio went an entire season (he played all 162 games) without hitting into a single double play. That's pretty incredible.

I'm beginning to think Wigginton could be our 3rd baseman once again. Guy's not a relic yet at 30 and is finally hitting like he's hit in the past. Nice to have him for at least another year.

All I'm hearing is excuses. With bionics these days, you can rebuild any arm as good as new.

Yep... in 1997. What's funny is that in 1998, he GIDP in the first game LOL.

I don't think he's complaining though. 98 was the year where he became the 2nd player ever MLB history to accumulate 50 doubles and 50 steals.

To celebrate Biggio Day..looks like Roy is trotting out a "Blast from the Past" performance.

I swear I didn't realize how good Wiggy has been of late. Dude is on a 14 game hit streak with 8 multi hit games. He's batting .472 in August.

No Oswalt out for the 9th inning? The way Roy was slicing through the D'Backs lineup the only logic was that he was out of gas and near death. Yes, death.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe seeing Biggio woke something up in him. If so, we need to persuade Biggio to be a coach next season or at least be out there every time Roy is pitching. :)

He's done that his entire career. It's what he's known for.

Except that he goes through stretches where he doesn't have enough confidence in that slow curve and won't throw it.

What's the deal with athletes not simply accepting credit or taking a complement? If you didn't know the box score, you'd think Oswalt allowed 80 runs by defeated way he commented on the game, lol. Jesus Roy, you pitched an outstanding game, it wasn't just the ball "finding someone". Take it for what it is.
