Is that Lane that played last night? He looks horrible, "He Phil, put me in, I can hit better than Lane."

    BTW

Lidge giving up those runs last night was my fault. When my 7 yr old son saw him coming in he groaned, "Not Lidge." Then I told him about the scoreless streak of the bull pen.

    Yep, good catch.

Would be real, real nice if his arm turns out to be enough to stay behind the plate. Only thing holding him back.

It's mind boggling why Hunter Pence isn't in Round Rock yet. He is hitting .295, 23 HR's, 76 RBI, 13 SB, and a OPS of .924. Purpura when asked on ESPN 790 by CP why he isn't there said there is no room in the outfield in Round Rock. Purpura have heard of a guy named Jimerson. He sucks, no future in the big leagues.

Don't see him playing catcher at Round Rock with Quintero and Gimenez there. Current 1st baseman at Round Rock is Alan Zinter so House could take his place. Hopefully Lou Santaglo gets promoted to Corpus now, JR Towles to Salem. There both good hitters having great season. Astros loaded at catcher postion throughout system with Gimenez, House, Santaglo, Towles, Henriquez, and Sapp.

Wouldn't shock me to see a minor league deal soon, as I'd think Q is the odd man out, PT-wise. He's also probably low man on the totem pole potential-wise as well. They've been using Gimenez at 1st when Q catches. House could work in there too, but I see no reason, short of the Stros deciding that he just can't cut it behind the plate, why House wouldn't catch some. He infinitely more valuable there than as a 1B.

Santangelo's come on pretty strong recently, cut down on the K's (huge problem most of the season). I know they've been disappointed w/ Towles's attitude this year (suspended him at least once that I can recall). Hopefully the kid grows up. But you're right on about their depth behind the plate - the only position where they're really stacked.

Well, Backe has been the man at MMP. Can he continue his dominance at home tonight? I hope so.

Please get some runs tonight stros. ...please win.

Lance isn't going to play?! WTF?!

I thought he was back when we were on the NY trip. He made the trip, but obviously didn't play.

I really do feel that this is the make or break series for the Astros. If they don't get at least 2 out of 3, then I think it will be too little too late. Last year on August 1st, the Astros were the Wild Card leaders. If we blow this series, we won't even be close to that. I believe in miracles, but we need to win this series in order to give our miracle some semblance of reality.

But of course all of this is moot because we'll sweep the Diamondbacks :)

This summs up what this team has come too...When a seven year old boy groans when he sees a pitcher come in. Most seven year olds just care about the main players and could care less about statistics...This is one of the funny posts because I'm imagining your seven yr old son actually groanning..Good Post Austin70... :D

If we can get through two innings without giving up a run I'll be satisfied with that. I'll consider that a victory and progress and I'll celebrate it like a victory.. :D

How shocking that a rookie is making it look easy against our offense ... this is really tough to watch especially without Berkman in there.

Same ole' same ole' Pathetic lost looking team. Not hitting or even seem to be into the game. Backe still looks far from form yet he's one of our better pitchers. I mean who in their right mind would want to be traded to the Astros ? If I was Tejada or Soriano I would pull a Steve Francis or Jim Jackson and tell them " I'm not playing for that sorry team !!" We Just SUCK !!!
