It's not Lidge's fault. We need a manager that uses his closer in the correct situations.

Qualls isn't a better option either... they might as well get rid of every single bullpen pitcher not named Dan Wheeler, and just pitch him till his arm falls off.

Well this has gone from one of my favorites to one of my least....this is unbelievable its laughable. There's not one thing (outside Oswalt, Clemens and Berkman) on this team that has performed consistently to expectations this whole season. A new bat, a new arm...it's not gonna do jack unless this whole team gets its act together.

Can someone explain to me why Clemens came out...even if he was gassed?

You gotta wonder what Clemens is thinking right now. Maybe he'll give a well-deserved tirade to his teamates?

    Sorry. You are incorrect.

Closers traditionally struggle in non-save situations, yet Garner keeps throwing him out there in non-save situations.

Lidge has been good in save situations.

The entire bullpen aside from Qualls and Miller was available and rested. To allow Lidge in this kind of situation is irresponsible and absurd managing, and it's come back to bite us yet again. At some point, the blame needs to stop going to Lidge and instead be placed on the man who continues to run him out there despite having four months of evidence to suggest otherwise.

I don't agree with that... Lidge (or any other closer) should be able to pitch no matter what the situation. Especially with a guy like Brad, who's only been a closer for 2 full years (and was a set up guy before that, and a starter before that).

The only consistent releiever the Astros have is perhaps the guy who does the most with the least amount of "stuff" (Wheeler).

Wheels has been one of the better arms out of the pen, but he's been inconsistant at times like the rest of 'em.

What we need is a manager who realizes that you can't rely on a pitcher with an ERA that's is steadily approaching 6!

Also, this team had probably mailed it in after Brad squeezed in that last run... after Qualls came in, I'm pretty sure all of the bench, bullpen, and managers turned off that little "spark" that keeps them focused.

Qualls didn't do anybody any favors today... just lit the flame to a fire that's been burning ever since.

So Garner went out there and helped lidge throw the ball...No I'm not incorrect read the posts...Have you not been watching Lidge at all ? How many saves does it take for him to blow before you can say its the managers fault and not Lidges. JD just said it " he's not placing his fastball correctly.." that means its Lidges fault not Garners. A pitcher should be able to pitch in any situation.... ;)
