Oswalt better not have any more lapses in concentration... he's got an early 3-0 lead. The Astros HAVE to win this game... any hiccups, and it will just be a microcosm of how the "formula" has just not worked this season (as it did last season). No superstar bat can help that lack of execution.
Vintage Roy O. Spotting fastballs at 94. Great hooks between 66 and 73. Really has the dbacks fooled and looking silly. Anybody see that catch by Carlos quentin, be seeing that one on sportscenter all weekend
if this remains close, I wonder who will be brought in to close it, if Roy O doesn't stay in. Garner has sais Wheeler is unavailable.
Nice to see Willy T making good use of his extra playing time... if he's being shopped he's upping his value
Oswalt at only 98 pitches and he won't be coming up to bat in the 8th (unless its a big inning). Its his game to lose.
Lets finish this off and Miluakee has taken the lead over Cin. It would be nice to get back to within 3 games or so within a couple weeks
Told ya Somehow I knew Garner would put him in, especially considering there hasn't been a word from him otherwise (I'd imagine we'd know if Lidge was removed from the closers role) Please, Please, Please get the save.
If Lidge does get the save here, then Garner needs to seriously NOT put him in unless it is in fact a save situation, because that is usually the only time he does well.
Such is the life of a closer...one night they're booing you (practically outa town), the next you're the hero again.
Lights Out???? Good win for this team. Good hob by Lidge and RoyO. I'm glad Baltimore got to see Brad pitch well before the deal goes down.
Just mechanics at this point... sometimes he has them, sometimes he doesn't. The slider he just struck out Jackson on was beautiful... started off in the zone, wasn't belt-high, and broke just outside the zone at the last second. The biggest difference between Lidge now (vs. in the past) is that he was able to throw the slider LIKE THAT whenever he needed to... and that's what set up his fastball, and the slider in the dirt. If Lidge can fine tune his mechanics enough to harness THAT version of the slider (against righties and especially against lefties), you'll see a much better pitcher out there.
