To be completely honest this is a like a badge of honor in Trumpland. Most people read this and think he's a classless POS who should resign. Trump world thinks he graduated from Tenderfoot to First Class Trump Scout.
I wouldn’t know but my guess is even in trimpland, a coordinated effort to smear a vet that claim sexually assault is a bit too far. (Until that vet is an extreme leftist of course ).
I respectfully disagree, but that depends on the veteran. Since it's a woman vet, I think that's pretty clear it'll be praised. If it was a Chris Kyle type of Seal Team blood thirty macho maniac.... yes Trump world would freak if Crenshaw betrayed one of those dudes. Trumpers have this image in their head of "veteran." and it's actually a very very small portion of the actual military mostly portrayed by Hollywood by guys who look like Chris Hemsworth or Mark Wahlberg. When in reality those guys they are portraying that are in Seal Team 6, and other special forces units, are very dissimilar to the rest of the military. I've mentioned before that I've went hunting/camping with Seal Team 6 guys and oddly enough Toby Keith up in Oklahoma a few years back. These guys are not good people whatsoever. Yes we should all respect the military, and our vets, but with some of the special forces groups we have to keep in mind that those guys are plucked into those groups because they are blood thirsty lunatics with very little humanity running through their veins. That's why they are good at that specific job. And... THAT is the profile that Trumper types actually glorify. It certainly won't be the black woman running comms between units in the Navy, or the Indian American analyst in Germany with the Army. When in reality those are the vast majority of "vets" in the military. Not the Chris Kyle types that Hollywood loves to glorify to the Trumpers.
What the guy said was stupid but not racist. I as black man dont support the protests. I have my reasons dont want to rehash @IBTL I apologize i looked that tweet 10 times and did not see the "is nationalism a bad word" written across the advertisement. I just read the tweet. I didn't realize Crenshaw was the tweeter. I dont follow Twitter. I thought the other guy wrote the tweet You are right, he probably is setting up a run at at the presidency and unfortunately trying to round up the white nationalist vote. Very disappointing
This matches very well with my personal experience. Women vets to Marine infantry guys are pretty much civilians to them. Female vets aren't part of the "in" club amongst the direct combat occupations like infantry and SF. Also these type of people are deep in right wing culture and therefore will trash "me too" and will believe any accusation is a hit job to discredit their heroes.
Good job of generalizing! Haven't you always enjoyed it when others have generalized you? Like, when they say things like "these types of people...". Classy.
Do you have more experience than me in a Marine infantry line company? Do you have more access to the culture than me? If so, please express your experiences.
I sure don't. But I've seen a bunch of black people. Would it be cool for me to talk about them and say "these types of people are ... blah blah blah" ? Isn't that just as disparaging as the generalization that you just made?
Also not all of them share the same political views that Crenshaw do. Adm. McRaven who not only commanded SEALS but was a SEAL himself has criticized and been criticized by Trump. Robert O'Neil who killed Bin Ladin has also criticized Trump too.
Are enlisted infantry men born with that trait? Making generalizations of a work environment especially when you have experience in said work environment js different than making generalizations of birth traits dumbass.
In Crenshaw's case, he's actually probably the minority compared to McRaven. Officers are far more educated and moderate. Wouldn't call them liberal, but definitely moderate The enlisted direct combat occupations are heavily right wing. A liberal amongst that work environment is a unicorn.
